Welcome Warhammer. Your reputation as a farkler extraordinaire proceeds you.
Was it the light of torches and shouting from the mob that drew you to our neck of the woods?

My new project is a 1990 DR650s. Maybe I should have just bought a new one, but too late now. Well, it's not too late. Maybe I just don't know any better.
I'm in Los Angeles, real close to the Angeles forest. I've never ridden dirt and I don't know if I ever will.
Maybe. I've had 5 motorcycles. Been across the US twice and a few dozen of trips Portland to Los Angeles. My thought was to get a small bike to get back into riding before I get something nice. You know those 3 year old bikes for sale with 500 miles. don't want to be one.
I tried to buy 2 other bikes and at the last minute, suddenly the title disappeared. Each were surprised I wouldn't hand over any money without a title.
The dr650s is in average condition and was modestly priced. It's stock with a supertrap exhaust slightly melting the rear plastic fender. Give me a month of putting around the neighborhood, and I'll consider upgrades. I don't need more power; just a nice running motorcycle. I don't need it for transportation and I plan to mod it myself as needed. If you're a mechanic in Los Angeles, you should keep me in mind if I wimp out on being a self mechanic. I know how to, just don;t have time.
If I'm riding this after a year and you have a 2 year old big bike with 500 miles, we should talk. Till then the dr650s is it

Hey, sorry about that - we've had some problems in the past with spammers from 'round the world, and over the last few weeks the blocker hasn't been working quite right. It's been slowing down registration for reg'lr folks too much. I'll try to stay on top of it more.
Anyway, welcome! You have one of the best neighborhoods for this stuff, and I envy you for it.

Hello from Kaleephorneeya, Been looking to start stretching the legs as it were and taking longer trips on my bikes. Figured this would be the place to get some good info on doing just that. Been considering changing the stable to something more suitable for such endeavors. Probably end up bugging ya'll with newb questions too.

Go ahead and ask the newb questions. You won't get harassed...too much.

Hi y'all. Middle-aged old fart here from Delaware. Have a '95 CB750 Nighthawk and wife has a '05 Rebel. Great forum here. Both bikes are set up for touring, and still waiting to be ridden this year.

Welcome old fart!! Keep and eye on Region 6 for local rides/get-togethers. Maybe the snow will be clear by the time one of them rolls around!

Hello,
Stumbled upon this interesting site recently.
I write from nearby Rome, Italy, I'm a placid sport-tourer who threw away his money on Guzzi and Ducati so far (and this won't change in the future, I think).
Sometimes the the throttle takes autonomous life without me noticing and the placid tourer turns in a curve-eager sporter, but it is only wishful thinking, it lasts a few bends of the road, only the time to realize that the bike knows much better than me: so I give to myself the alibi that going too fast just ruins the aesthetic of painting more curves on a single stroke...

Hello all! Post #1. Um... I'm from Chicago (north side burb). I long for this winter to end and the snow to go away. Three months of real winter is enough. Just added 2002 RT to the stable. Previous long term ride was a CBR1000F with Givis. Great bike! Love riding in Michigan and Wisconsin. Favorite long ride was down to Deals Gap and the Blue Ridge Park Way. Have a buddy with a VTX and we are looking forward to adding some more miles. Thanks for the board.

My name is Abel Stose I'm a Police Officer in Southeast Kansas. I've been riding motorcycle's since I was 15 and started on a 1988 Honda Hurricane. I bought my newest bike in September of 2007. Its a 2007 Kawasaki ZZR600. So far the only modification I've done to it is a 2 inch lower on the back to make it a more upright ride. It also makes it more rider friendly since I'm 5'8. I'm recently single and I plan on several trips around the area, one upcoming the first week of April to the Ozarks in Missouri. I ride all year long as long as there isn't snow and ice on the road. I put around 8000 miles a year on my motorcycle, hopefully that number will increase dramatically this year.

Okay, my name is David Lawrence and I've been lurking aound the site for about a month now; I fulfilled a lifelong dream in August of last year when I got a 1998 (red) VFR 800
. Its my first real bike- I had (actually still have) a mid-80s Suzuki GS 450 I learned to ride on, but I haven't ridden it since my first daughter was born around six years ago. Since August I've put almost 6000 miles on the VFR and have been determined and lucky enough to ride almost daily even up here in northern CT. I am a complete newb, a total novice mechanically but I am eager as hell to learn. This spring I hope to start with some relatively local rides, I invested in some Helen 2 Wheels bags and am dying to hit the road for some motorcycle camping. Thanks to all for the awesome site and I'll try not to annoy too much with dumb questions.

Welcome lurker Dave.
Im just north from you in central Ma. I only work weekends and am always looking for someone to meet for breakfast and then a hundred or so miles after that during the week. See you when the weather gets better (July?).
For the record, your GS 450 was every bit a real motorcycle
