Hi

I have a guy a work that rides a Yamaha FZ6. He has an issue with the length of his in seam. He can't put both of his feet flat on the ground when he stops.
His girlfriend want to ride with him, but he's a little nervous about having a passenger with him.

I have told him that he should look in to having the bike lowered.
Can this be done on a Yamaha FZ6 and if not what bike would he be able to lower?

I wish that he had the smarts to have the bike set up for his height before he bought it.

Thank You
Kevin

Any bike 'can' be lowered.  Check some Fz6 forums, probably have better luck for tech info.

Has he thought of maybe just shaving the seat to see if that would lower it enough?

I don't think that he has given it much thought.
I told him that he should go on line and check out some forums.

Taking some of the foam out of the seat is a good idea.

There is not much.  Replace the rear shock/spring.  Drop the triple clamp a bit.  Shave or replace the seat.

http://fz6.sportbikes.net  is a pretty active group of FZ6 riders.

Well he finally went to the dealer to see about lowering the bike.
I've been on his butt to get something done.

He can always do something with the seat if he needs to go lower and hopefully this will help to make him feel comfortable with the bike!

Thanks for the help Clap

The FIRST thing to do is to buy some boots with THICK soles.

Makes a world of difference and works with EVERY bike.

Experience is off Gen1 FZ1.
Raise forks in triple clamp (up to 2 " availalable FZ1, BUT check), longer shock dogbones will lower bike.
I Think moving center to center 1/2 inch is about 1 in. down. comfortable 1 or 2, has seen links to 4 inch down.
California Suspension Works or Traxxion can customize suspension if you have budget. Minimize ground cearance loses and ride quality change,
