Allright, I'll bite. Does it count if I used to own one?  I don't remember it looking like the one in your avatar.

I dont know what Yamaha is waiting for?  There is a definite market for an updated Max.  If they do finally come out with anything like the "talk" and the "pics", I'm probably going to face divorce number 3.  She's already said that I can't have one....something will have to "give"....and speaking from experience, wives are replaceable.

I am not much for the V-Max concept…but what I would like to see is for that sweet V-4 to be dropped into a GT bike (oh what beautiful music lol).  If not that…at least Yamaha could make the bike with more aggressive ergos than shown and turn it into a retro café racer.   Oh well…just my silly opinion.   Smile

Coolwhip..silly opinions are most welcome here.  I will say it again though...it really is time for a change.  It's been 20 years, and I think any change would generate a lot of talk....and most likely...SALES!

Went for a ride on Christmas Eve.  A bit chilly, but nice.  During one of my stops, a younger rider pulled up and commented on the Max.  Said he had heard of them, but had never seen one (unicorn maybe?).  Nearing the end of our visit, he said that a Max might be his next bike.  I know, the quesiton arises, what was he riding.

Well, I think he called it a 2003 Warrior 650.  To look at his bike, 1.  Couldnt tell what it was, no markings what so ever, 2.  It looked much older than what it was.  His home-grown paint job was rather unique.  THat stuff they paint truck bedliners with...he had painted his bike with.  He said he used Armoral instead of wax now.  All chrome was painted flat black, aa was the motor.  To top it off, he had some pretty tall ape-hangers.

The think looked like a bike out of a WW II movie.  Although very basic, he had done a really kewl job on it.

Took the warthog out for a short 240 miles jaunt yeaterday.  What a great way to close out 2006!  I met up with the NoVA group from Region 6.  If you are in the area, and have not met/rode with this group, you are missing out!

Love theVmax, and always thought that motor would do well in an FJR like machine as well. Sure puts Honda's V4 to shame in terms of character and feel. The Vmax motor is simply the best motorcycle engine I have ever experienced.

I certainly appreciate your comments about the motor.  As for the FJR, I think it fares well with the motor it has.  To give it the Max's motor, well that would be...well...uncivilized  Lol

Thanks for the comment.  And what is it that you ride?

As of today an 07 FJR. My comment wasn't meant to discourage the FJR motor.

Didnt take it as a "cut" to the FJR.  THe FJR is a beautiful bike, with an admirable history.  Nothing to scuff at.  Even if we did mount the Max motor in the FJ, the body work on the FJ will obscure the beauty of the Maxs motor.

BTW, good choice, the FJR.  Thumbsup
