I found a site that details the changes in the 650 since 1987, but nothing about the 600. Anyone know if they're the same?

I'm mostly concerned about the fork tubes and the triple clamps.

Thanks! Cool

Crap... I'm confused.  Headscratch

Part numbers, at least the prefixes, look the same, but BB's part numbers are different. I wonder if that means the parts are actually different or that they just have to catalog them differently.

Unfortunately the ronayers fiches (which list the full Kawi parts numbers) don't include the KL600, just the 650. Rolleyes

Mine works and I looked at the '85 KL600 and the '03 KLR650 and the top tree, bottom tree/stem, and outer fork tubes all had different part numbers.   Doesnt look like they are a match.

Just curious, that seems like a long step backwards in tech and design, any particular reason or is there an '85 parts bike available?

It's not that big a step backwards... the KLR650 hasn't really changed in more than 20 years, and it wasn't exactly first-rate suspension to begin with.

There was a complete 85 front end for sale and I was curious if it would work. Somebody got it for $30.  Rolleyes

In my experience BB uses there own catalog numbers.  I had to order some parts that I had ordered some time ago through them and they had changed the numbers, so I had to look through the diagrams again.
