In my search for a V-Strom 650 with ABS, I've contacted several dealers on the east coast...and they're all telling me the same thing—no more ABS Wee's on the east coast, period.

I've contacted State 8 in the Cleveland area, and haven't heard back from them yet (it seems no news is usually bad news, because if they have one, it doesn't take them a half-day to find out!).

The guy from Powersports East in Bear, Delaware (who couldn't find one) said (rather cryptically) that "the Suzuki rep told me there should be a couple left at dealers in the Pittsburgh area" but he didn't say who. (It's irritating that they get all cagey about stuff like this—really stupid.)

So if you Pittsburgh-area folks (Garry?) can give me a quick rundown of all or most of the big Suzuki dealers over there, I'll call them ASAP!

Thanks,
Scott

PS - Here's a quick list from Google—maybe you guys can let me know any I missed, as well as which of these is biggest/best?

Sorry, I don't know Pittsburgh area dealers...  But have you checked Cycletrader?

http://adcache.cycletrader.com/5/4/9/88800349.htm - Sterling, VA
http://adcache.cycletrader.com/5/1/8/87432418.htm - Middlesex, NJ
http://adcache.cycletrader.com/5/7/3/86400773.htm - Millstone, NJ
http://adcache.cycletrader.com/5/2/2/86235522.htm - Lynchburg, VA

At least those are the ones within 350-miles of my zip here in SEPA.

Around here, my dealer didn't even order any ABS Stroms in this year - he didn't think they'd sell...

LOL, right Ken! Thanks Rincewind for the links—I'll check those out, though I really want to buy new (or almost new).

I'm finding out just how difficult it is to find a bike outside your local dealer. I guess I'm naive, 'cause I thought it would be easy—I thought all dealers were all one big happy family!  Lol (You scratch my bike, I'll scratch yours kinda thing.)

Apparently this is not the case. Many dealers are secretive, and aggressively try to "keep" customers for themselves...furthermore, in a given area, certain dealers work together...while they don't work with others. (Sort of like drug dealers, lol.)

So how are you supposed to get around all this? (Other than just manning the phone 24/7 and pester the hell out of everyone!)

Thanks again for the tips everyone...but so far (I've called them all) no luck.

What's kind of lame is that the "Showroom" sections of every dealer site I've seen are NOT a reflection of what the dealer really has—either that, or they only update their websites once every 6 months! I think most dealer sites say "Showroom" and then they just put photos and links to every bike on the planet (the assumption is "Hey, we can GET one for you!")

I contacted Bob Tracey Suzuki in Pittsburgh and talked with Ron Short. he was nice and helpful and said they have a "good relationship" with several other dealers in the area, and said he'd start looking around to see if he can find one. He asked me not to call any other Pittsburgh-area dealers 'til I hear back from him...so my fingers are crossed!
