OK, so I don't really want to start a color debate here, but I thought the subject line might raise a few eyebrows...

I was walking through Autozone today getting a tire pressure gauge and some other stuff and I stopped in front of the the safety section and some 3M reflective tape caught my eye (no pun intended)...I've been riding with a friend with a Honda ST1300 and it has a very bright reflective panel on the rear bag that appears black during the day, but bright silver when I ride behind him at night. I bought the red tape, and you know it matches the color of my panniers perfectly. It's impossible to tell that it's there until the light gets on it. Have a look at these shots, one with no flash, and one with to see where the tape is. See and be seen I say! Thumbsup

That is VERY cool!  I wonder how much it'd stick out on the Sunset red for the 06?

Stripes,

You're in luck, yes they did have silver!

Post some shots if you do the same mod.

Cheers,

Thanks man, I'll check out my local Autozone later this week and if they got them I'll post pics. My friend bought some of the black sheets and gave me what he had left over to put on my bags, but I can also put these on the colored section for more visibility. Cool

Stripes,

Where did you get the black stuff? That's what I was originally looking for.

Let me know if you have a source.

Cheers,

Colin

CMS_Sprint, I love the red offered in 07.  My dealer has not ordered any 07 Sprints since he still has 2 06's (red, silver) on the floor.  I wanted to see how the new bar risers and windshield help the ride.  My dealer claims he can spec the 06's like the 07's by putting on the riser kit and windscreen.  However, I believe the ECU, Fuel Injector nozzles, and heat shielding is different on the 07 models so my dealer is not entirely accurate in his statement.

Pretty red!

Stripes doesn't know where it came from since he got it from me.  Here's the link you're looking for.  It's fairly cheep for a couple of big black squares.

You're right.  If there's any difference in the heat shielding, it's minimal and you'd never notice it since it's not where you can see it.

Another difference is that the catalytic converter, rather than being part of the muffler, is now part of the exhaust under the engine.

If you can get him to throw in the screen and risers for free, it wouldn't be a bad deal.  If he's not trying to charge you full retail for it to begin with, anyway.

Dealer has $9,600 on the sticker for the non-abs version which doesn't include setup and freight.  So, about $1,100.00 off retail and I'm sure he won't throw in the risers and screen.  This dealer really tries to hold MSRP if he can on all his bikes, that is why it is a leftover 06.

Redonesarefaster,

Which set did you end up buying, there's no set specifically for the sprint, so just wondering which ones you chose, and if you could do it again, would you make the same choice?

Let me know...

Thanks,

Buy the 8"x10" plain black squares and cut them to the shapes you desire.  I bought smaller sheets than that, and one sheet gave pretty good coverage for the back side of one bag.  I'll take some pictures and post them in a bit.  I was going to do both sides of the bags (since they go on either side) but decided that one side was enough.  I just have to pay attention so that the reflective side faces the right way.

In reference to rather or not I'd do the same thing again, I would.  Unless somebody made a specific kit for the Sprint, and it was significantly better than or cheaper than what I did.

Mine took all of 15 minutes to do.
