I'm heading there in Feb. to visit my wife's grandparents.  There are two problems with this:

- I have a friend out in Phoenix who I'd very much like to hook up with.
- Arizona is too beautiful to not rent a motorcycle to make the trip.

So... One of the days, I intend to rent a moto to ride up to Phoenix.  I'd prefer to rent a BMW R1200RT if possible, but chances look grim there (looks like most of the dealers rent HDs, in which case, a V-Rod would be the choice).

Also... how's the weather?  I heard 70ish in the daytime that time of year.

Does anyone have a rental shop they have done business with and would, therefore, recommend?  (Or an old beater bike capable of running 2 people 2-up for 200-300 miles? Bigsmile just kidding...)

Go to Google and enter "motorcycle rent tucson".  You will find options (Like Blue Sky and Ad-Mo), though most are of the Milwaukee product... and the product is excellent btw.  Rented a Honda from Ad-Mo in Geneva Switzerland, and they had BMWs available.  Perhaps in Tucson as well.

My parents winter in Tucson.  I've rented HD's a couple of times from Tucson HD.  I've been treated very well both times.  Rent something that's not in high demand and you'll get a smokin' deal.

I rented a Buell last year, but I had to drive up to Scottsdale to pick it up.  It was worth the trip.  The bike was pretty much non-stop for the 3 days I had it.

I've only rented from Hacienda Harley in Scottsdale.  Rent for 3 days, pay for 2.  Can't beat it.  They have over 100 rentals available.  All new models.  This doesn't help though.

To answer your other question, the weather is about 70ish during the day that time of year.

I know Eagle Rider (http://www.eaglerider.com/) is in Phoenix and Sedona, sorry if that doesn't help.

I hope you don't mind me latching onto your thread, but I'm looking for a good place to rent a bike in the Sedona area.

Eagle Rider has a few different bikes to chose from in Phoenix, but they only have cruisers available in Sedona. I would REALLY like a dual sport.

So, does anyone know of alternate places to rent bikes in the Sedona area?

Thanks!

I've rented HD's on two occassions in Scottsdale and was treated very well.  If Stacy still works there, she is great.

I've been through Sedona several times and I don't recall any motorcycle rental places, though if you want a pink jeep you're in luck.

Fun Time in Phoenix has harleys and goldwings.

Thanks for the tip.  We have a Wrangler (not pink) reserved from Hertz on Phoenix for the week.

I did find this website:  http://www.sedonamotorcyclerentals.com/

But, I called and they only have a few cruisers to rent.  If I can't find a dual sport (KLR) to rent, then I'll take a cruiser for a few days.

Regarding dirt, READ THE CONTRACT very closely if you plan on driving anything off paved road.  Doesn't matter if it's a Jeep or a dual sport or not.  You may be on your own if you have a mechanical problem out there.  Also CHECK TIRES VERY CAREFULLY before driving off-road or even on-road for that matter.

Especially with part time 4WD vehicles (like Wranglers), people don't know how to drive them.  I got a Liberty rental and the front tires were destroyed, presumably from people driving in 4WD on dry pavement.  The rental company tried to turn around and rent the same vehicle to someone else as soon as I returned it, but I very loudly asked them to check the tires in front of the prospective customers.

All there is for rent in Tucson is Harleys - at the dealer on Grant/6th Ave. and a custom Harley shop across the street from the dealer.

There are other options if yourent in the Phoenix area (100 miles of interstate between T and P, less than 2 hrs.) -
