It's official folks, I heading to Monterey!  I picked up a sweet gig as part of the Paddock Team (probaby security, crowd control, etc).

I am going to slab it up from Alb, NM in 2 days, then after the event, I'll hit every curvy 2-lane along the coast down to the in laws in LA.  From their, I slab it to Tucson to visit friends at Davis Monthan AFB and a cool private visit of the USAF bone yard (largest non-flying air force in the world).  My last day will be NW through Globe AZ and back to Albaturkey NM.

Can't wait...hope the Ducati Performance kit comes in before I leave!  BOOORAH!

You'd be wise to head to try to incorporate the 191 (from clifton going north) on your way from tucson to NM if you can spare an extra couple of hours of ride time.

A very very strong second to the 191 recommend.  I'm heading out Wen. the 18th to LA.  Staying with friends there and then riding up Thur.  I'll be working Fri-Sun and then ride home Mon. and Tue.  I just need to get a set of Track Worker Whites and a good wide brim hat.

There's a forest fire burning near 191. Supposedly the road was closed this morning. I'd suggest calling ADOT before committing to it.

Lightning-caused wildfire burning in northern Arizona

Associated Press - July 1, 2007 8:24 PM ET

PHOENIX (AP) - A wildfire burning in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest in northern Arizona is believed to be lightning-caused.
The Chitty fire has burned more than 750 acres. The burned acreage according to the feds also includes burnout operations conducted last night.

The fire is burning at the top of Chitty Canyon, west of Highway 191 and Blue Vista Overlook south of Alpine.

Highway 191 is open but travel is discouraged since the road could be closed at any time and visibility is poor due to heavy smoke. So far, there's zero containment.

About 140 firefighters, including five Hotshot crews, are working to stop the fire from spreading.
The terrain is steep and rugged. The fire is burning in ponderosa pine, pinyon pine, juniper and grass.
Crews have air tankers available to douse hot spots.
