Um, well, if the avatar's any indication, perhaps those phrases come as no surprise, really.

BTW, I see the OED has now added, among other "stop saying this" entries: "hangry" and "wine o'clock". I can forgive the portmanteau word "hangry", but "wine o'clock"? Who, in good conscience, said or ever will say "wine o'clock" and mean it?

I could learn to live with all the stupid phrases if people would simply (or maybe not so simply based on some peoples' IQs) LEARN TO SPELL CORRECTLY!

Similarly " The fact of the matter is... "

Usually uttered by politicians preceding at best an opinion though more often an outright lie.

"The American People" when uttered by politicians in US governments (federal, state, local). What? Are they talking about everyone in North and South America? Are the speakers not of the US, so that they refer to a foreign, to them, population? Or is there some mythical American People (sorta like "the People of the Dawn" or something equally bizarre) which we are not? If so, why do "the rest of us" get to hear speeches aimed at this mysterious population? WTF ever happened to words like "us", "we", and "all of us"? [/vein-bulging rant]
