Some may have seen this, but if not check it out—an amazing and cool mountain-biking video (from the rider's perspective) going down one of those steep, narrow trails (through the woods---trees everywhere)with catwalks, jumps, etc—worth watching! (Relevance: does anyone do trails like this on their dirtbikes?  Bigsmile)

http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/files/1018962_l6wu2/descente_vtt.wmv

It's the real-life mountain bike version of that "flying scooter" chase in "Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi!"  Lol Makes me want to run out and buy a mountain bike with mad suspension that can do this kind of stuff (I'd kill myself trying this on mine! LOL) Re: the "Mtn Bike vs. Dirt Bike Descending" thread—I doubt any dirtbike could make it down this trail...but maybe so?

Scott

PS - How many times do you think these guys did this run to be able to learn it well enough to wail down like this??? (I'm pretty sure it's not their first run down!)

Heck, the jumps didn't amaze me as much as the tiny little catwalks with 6-foot drops on either side!  Crazy

A friend of mine spent some time up in Vancouver's North Shore area.  Here's the video he made of his riding there:

LMAO!!!  Lol Lol Lol Frickin' hilarious!  Thumbsup Anyone reading this thread—you must watch the video in the original post first, then this one for maximum comic effect. (Though to be fair, I think the trail your friend attempted was definitely nastier than what those other dudes were railin' down!)

Sure man—at a lot of those places, they just hop on the ski lift with their bikes to go back up!  Lol

The trails I ride on (with my trail bike) are very similarly wooded and much tighter.  They aren't as steep though, and I don't have to worry about jumping from one catwalk to another...

Very cool vid!

Wimps, they didn't even hardly have to pedal, it was all down hill.   Lol  Seriously, that was insane!

I bet a trials rider could do that stuff easily. Down AND back up.

LOL!!!!  I've been in that boat in the Sandias; there are some trails out there that are... insane.  I've always maintained that I'd rather walk the bike through some things and ride the rest than to push a broken bike all the way back up the trail.  This, of course, came after breaking my bike 8 miles from the start point, downhill (start was uphill). Crazy

That's very cool!  But I think I'll stick to dirt bikes. My mountain bike doesn't get much of a work out.

(And yeah Trials riders are the shnitz. The things they do with a dirt bike are just plain nuts!)

Finally saw the original posts video.  Pretty cool.

BTW: The only time the narrow walk ways would be a problem is the initial landing onto them...after that they weren't too bad looking.   Lol
