Anyone have any experience with the Olympia Phantom one piece suit? I'm thinking about getting one to use for commuting back and forth to work, rain or shine. The idea is to be able to wear my work clothes underneath and be able to change out easily.

There's a write-up on it in this month's Motorcyclist. They give it 4.5 stars. Thumbsup

Thanks! I saw the magazine review, but not the postings. I'll continue my research....

I have had one for about 3 months now and commute 110+ miles round trip. So far I love the suit. Found it a bit hot when temps are 90+ in traffic but you have to concider you are standing on hot pavement. You would be hot not wearing it too. The only thing I would add is some ventalation in the legs. I have been thru some serious downpours for 30-45 min at a time and took the suit off to find my clothes under completely dry! I have been down the Stich road and it just didn't do it for me. In case you are wondering, I am 5'11" and 220 lbs and the XL fits perfect when I am riding my FJR, but is a little short in the mid section when riding My 955i.

How did you find the leg length? Do they allow enough so they don't ride up over the top of the boot when crouched down on the bike? I've noticed that is pretty common with a lot of gear, and I'm not all that lanky.

The leg length is pretty good, I found the legs and arms to be slightly long when off the bike but perfect when in position. The only problem is when riding my sportbike in a crouched over position it is a little short in the torso area and made it tight in the shoulders. To releive that I fitted thinner shoulder pads and it is perfect now.

Hmm... Aerostich has custom alterations available for that in their 1-piece, and the zip-in ellipse for the 2-piece (which is actually too wide, IMO). Does Olympia offer the alteration for custom built suits, or is it off-the-rack only?

I'd have likely bought one if I could have found one to try on before getting my 'Stich. Olympia was... less than helpful... while I was shopping Sad

It's off the rack... I'm about 6 foot and 240ish... Embarassment I have the suit in a 2XL. The arms and legs lengths are fine when on the Blackbird. Because I had to go to the 2XL for my gut, I find that once on the bike the suit is perfectly comfortable for me. The 'stitch just costs too much for me and this suit fits me fine and it's functionally what I was looking for.

Motorcyclist, as mentioned, had a review of it in a recent issue.

Kind of cheesy, though, as earlier in the magazine they had a column dedicated to greatness of the Aerostich!!

Nice they had both, but still rather cheesy!!!!

I have one, in XL.  I love it quite a bit.  Longer post on this subject in the other Phantom thread.

There's also a review in the new Cycle World. They liked it a lot, but said it is a pain to get into and out of, and therefore not suitable for commuting, just for long distance touring.

Having watched Req get in/out of his suit over the course of a week + riding, I have to say that the initial use of the suit appeared awkward but improved dramatically (sans liner, of course). However, he's no where as fast getting into his suit as I am my 'stitch  Lol
