So I went to replace the spark plugs today on my bike and I see that the spark plugs are oily. This causes me some concerns. I had a low slide with the bike in May and have ridden about 600-1000 miles on the bike since then. Anybody know what it could be?

Check them in a couple hundred miles and see what they look like then.  After that if they are still oily then I would wonder what's up.

What RPM range do you usually ride it in?  Do you ever take it up close to redline?

I usually keep it between 3000-8000 RPM, so I'm still no where near redline. I will check them in a couple hundred miles.

there is nothing wrong with pulling that bike up to 10.5k once in a while....it can take it.  Just don't bog it down at 3k very much if you can avoid itg.

Are you sure they are "oily" and not just carbon fouled?

Oily plugs usually mean severe engine wear or valve guide problems, and I can't see how this would be the case with your bike.

Have a looky here......

Did you check your air box for oil?  Might have allowed a significant amount up to the air box when it found the pavement.

What is your oil consuption like?

I'm sure the valves were oily. Well my oil consumption hasn't been that bad. I just changed the oil on the bike so we shall see what it is like now. I know that before I was adding oil maybe once in the few months that I've owned the bike, but that was a few days after the low slide.
