I am checking in from the taste.  I can report that it is too hot. And guess what there are a lot of people here.

I am here with my daughter and wife to see John Mayer. We got an early start so we could secure our own little plot of Grant Park.

I have enoyed seseme beef on a stick, a seafood pinapple salad as well as mustard fried cat fish.  Italian ice, sicilian shrimp, pot stikers and a cilantro steak epinada are the treats I have enjoyed while waiting.

Six hours down and one to go before the entertainment.

What are you doing today?

Be safe

Work at the Inlaws store and bail out around 9:30-10:00 to go help set off the big show tonight.  It will be my first time so I get to be a feeder, next year I get to shoot.

This year is the 25th year of Copper Harbors fireworks and we have 50% more to shoot thanks to a larger private donation.  And just so you know on a normal year its in the States top ten displays, we fire them off of Porters Island toward the town so they pop over the water.

I have already done he parade in a fire truck with my 4yr old daughter throwing candy, and then the kids games and then helping out with the departments hot dog/ brat sale during the games.  :I'm taking a break and saving it up for tonight.  Happy 4th all Thumbsup

took a 2 hour ride this morning then washed the bike in preparation for leaving on a 4 day trip along the Mississippi river, then to the U.P. and maby to copper harbor. (head I'll stop by if i do) then over to the east side to white fish point then down to the Mack and the take 2 along the lake. well that was off topic.
now I'm in the middle of doing a planting bed with land scape block around my shed.
and just put a 6 pound chicken on the grill.

now i have to go to home depot to get more block since i ran short.

Band number two played lots of recognizable tunes.  I will need to look up the name.

Its 4:45 pm and the crowds are encraoching on our blanket space.  Protecting the perimter is becoming too hard.  I have pissed a few people off.

It is amazing how some people think it is all right to come right down and squeeze in in front of those who thought enough to get here early.

I am not mixing well with the heat and crowd.  Even though I knew it wouild be this way.

A reminder if why its been over 20 years since I came to the taste.

I just came back from a friends place where I had a few vodka and lemonades and a steak the size of a catcher's mit.  Oh, and did I mention the vodka and lemonade?  Bigok

Just got home a few minutes ago.  I spent all day on Okauchee Lake: wakeboarding, waverunners and beer.  Watched the fireworks on friend's beautiful new deck boat.

All in all a good day. Smile

Worked all day (and still am), but it was fun. House fires, and armed standoff, multiple fights, and now I'm working security for a hotel where the Girls Gone Wild bus is staying...a well rounded day.

David, you had a great FREE lineup at the Taste.  Here was the lineup:

Rodrigo Y Gabriela (WXRT 931. has been playing one of their songs, good stuff, on my mp3 player as well)

Robert Randolph & The Family Band(these guys are just so good. I have never seen them live but have seen them on Austin City Limits on PBS)

John Mayer (it's John Mayer)

Too bad I didn't read this, I was working the at the First Aid tent!  First time I've ever seen the Taste crowd that calm, only 2 combative drunks. Now the gangbanger gathering that brought out the po po chopper Thumbsdown, buncha jags. But hey, the fireworks were nice and the female contigent was a welcome change, not to mention getting paid overtime + holiday pay firedevil for mainly handing out boo boo covers(band aids). Just a little sticky out there though!
