Was at a local Honda dealer today, and they had a black 04 XB12R Firebolt in there on consignment.
Now, I've seen that bike before, exactly once, on the road. That was two years ago, shortly after I had purchased my own white XB9R. I was parking one day, and a guy came over to talk to me--turns out he was a friend of the guy who owns the black 12R, and he told me it was the guy's first ever bike. I'm not a fan of learning on sportbikes, but whatever...
In any case, I never saw the bike again (and believe me, I'd notice another Buell--this is the only other XB that I know of in the area...) So, when I saw the bike in the Honda place, I asked about it, and was told the owner doesn't really want to sell it but he has to. I looked at the bike, and noticed the bike has around 7,000 km on it (in the same period I put on 24,000 km); the owner put on an aftermarket muffler, but the tires look like the originals, only partly worn (dunno how he did that, my OEM tires were toast at 3,500 km, unless he replaced them with more Dunlop 207s) and with chicken strips. The only damage I saw was a bent brake lever...
Now, this is an amazing riding area, with many beautifully twisty roads--I feel kinda sorry for this Buell, which has obviously never been ridden the way these bikes were meant to be ridden, even though there are so many good roads right nearby. Maybe it'll sell to someone who appreciates lean angle...
