*sheepish grin*

Ok, I give up.  I've got all the side plastic off (front fairing takes too many zip ties), and I can't find this thing.

I don't have an owner's or shop manual.  Where is it?

Probably should have asked before I drained all the oil out...

It is right next to the main drian plug.  It is a cartridge insert not a spin on.  A bit messy but not bad.  Good luck.

Darrick,   it sounds like you have an internal oil filter. i don't know the engine but look for a cover on the engine that looks like the size of the oil filter. (you do have a filter?)  you could also go to the Kawasaki web page and look up the owner's manual.

Its that large flat round plate with a bolt head in the middle, near one of the TWO oil drain plugs. Yes, you have to drain both! Loosen it and the plate will drop out revealing a paper filter. Make sure you get all the parts in the proper order, and don't lose the washer that usually sticks to the filter.

Best advice - Run, don't walk to the nearest Kawi dealer and get a shop manual!  Also, spend some time over at http://www.concours.org The Concours Owners Group ae very helpful folks

Thanks guys!

I think I got everything set, but I can't find the other drain plug.  What should I look for?

There's 2 drain plugs the same size, 17mm, I think. Both should have a crush washer on them.

Not a good picture, but it may help.

You might also want to check out Murphs for the Bergmen Engineering Spin On Oil Filter Adapter Kit.  Depends if you think it's worth the $110.00 for easier oil changes...

I've got that spin-on adapter on my Rex.  An excellent investment in reduced mess and frustration!  Bigok
