One of my cats has recently become obsessed with playing with a little stuffed mouse with rattle beads in it. It's great watching him most of the time, but now he brings it onto the bed at about 5am and starts going crazy with it. I'm so tired this morning...

One of ours plays fetch.

I shit you not...at 0430, he'll come into the bedroom, get up on the headboard, drop a toy in my hand and start swatting at my head until I throw it for him to bring back.

He's also figured out how the snooze button works, and once he's big enough to activate it, my wife will never be on time for work again.

Then again, maybe she will.  The other cat can tell time, and usually wakes her up a couple of minutes before the alarm goes off.

Those furry little fuckers are smart, and don't let anyone tell you different!!   EEK!

They aren't required to guard my house, warn away intruders, or stay off the furniture, and they still get fed. If my dog scratched me as often as the cat, or woke me up in the middle of the night, she would be a dead dog. As is, I still feed the cats (and the dog of course), and accept that they are just shitheads that don't pay rent.

Sounds too me like they're pretty smart. *I* wasn't able to get such a sweet deal with nothing but some fuzzy ears and a rumble in my throat.
