Just curious if there would be any interest in having an all S-T.n member class at Freddie Spencer's.
Jeff Haney had mentioned they sometimes do private classes in the off weeks on the schedule.

I haven't an idea if there is a discount for large private groups, we would probably need at least 15 people before any sort of discount could be offered.  But before talking with the office manager about requirements for a private group, I'd just like to get a feel if there would be enough interest to pursue it.  Time frame would a 2 day class, towards the end of summer at Miller Motorsports Park.  Typically, the classes are only held on weekdays, I wouldn't think a weekend would be available since the track may have something else going on. The Miller schedule hasn't been posted on the class site yet, so there maybe some leeway in getting a particular date confirmed that fits the collective groups schedule (only a guess though).

Pros:
- The class is fantastic, the instructors are great, you get to meet and talk with the legend Freddie Spencer,
and you get to use somebody else's bike.
- If you haven't done a track day before, this is the perfect setting to get your feet wet and to learn proper technique.
- If you have done track days, here's the chance to get bad habits fixed and have fun on
  somebody else's bike.(did I already mention that?)
- Take class with people you already know and love, it does help to remove some of the nervousness on the first day.

Cons:
- It's expensive, it maybe unreasonable to get 15+ people committed to spending 2K+ for a riding course. Actual
cost maybe more/less depending upon speaking with the school.
- Classes only held on weekdays can make it difficult to get time off.
- Travel, dinners, and accommodations would be the responsibility of each person to arrange.  Cut costs by sharing the hotel room.

So, assuming a time frame of late August, early September, would there be a tentative interest in attending something like this?  By saying that you are interested is no way committing to anything.  I just want see if it would be worth while to ping the school and get the specifics if we have at least 15-20 say they are interested.

And even if there isn't enough interest for a large private group, we could still plan for a small group of s-t.n'ers to attend a normal class.

I'd sign up for it if you could get him to host it at Barber!   Bigsmile

It would be too much travel for me to get to Vegas and back during the week.  But I'll keep checking the thread and might swing it if you need one more guy to get the big discount!

One of my goals for next year was to do the Freddie Spencer class, so count me in as interested.  Of course, that doesn't actually mean I'll have the money or the time, but if it works out that I have both I'd definitely do it, especially with people I know.  Thumbsup

I WILL do a Freddie class sooner or later.

As much as I like STnet, doing it with a group doesn't seem to matter much to me.

If it's like other track schools I've been to... you're too busy trying to 'drink from a fire hose' (learning so much you can barely keep your ears in place) to be able to socialize with your buds.   Plus, by the time I get off work, get airfare together, etc... saving a few bucks on a group rate probably wouldn't affect the decision much.

I've heard soooo many great things about Freddie's, even from guys I think are really fast.

You'll only have to save about 30,000 pennies a month and you'll be there!

Freddy Spencer and Miller are both on my list of things to do one of these days.  I was planning to get to Miller for a NESBA weekend if pulling it off this summer turns out to be possible.  Chances of getting there for a weekday class are pretty small, but I am interested if the stars somehow align.

Mercy Chris... RC Club members wouldn't pay that kind of money just to ride a pedestrian Honda... in fact
Freddie couldn't pay us to ride a stinky inline... we are negotiating for an all V4 day or bust...

This is an idea I'm very interested in but 2007 is already booked for me in regards to track days and family vacation time.

But, I want to take a Freddie Spencer class in the worst kind of way and it would be cool doing it w/ a group of ST.N'rs.

Just for clarification, they provide the bikes and all you have to do is show up w/ your gear?

Correct, they provide the bikes, with brand new set of Pilot Powers installed.  They'll even rent all of the gear, but highly recommended you bring all your own.

Have fun on the VTEC VFR's because part of the reason you all run the same bikes is to remove the BS from each person.

Let me know if you want to try to make it.  I may or may not have run in the trailer.  The haul is long enough and the more willing to drive the better.  Just plan on 5 total days of being gone for 2 days at the track.
