Problems with my 2610

I have had a 2610 for just over a year, and have been noticing I keep losing touch screen calibration. I have to recalibrate my screen often, I do this with my gloves on....this way I don't have to remove my gloves to touch the screen and pull up info I need, or plug in addresses, etc. I just calibrated it maybe a couple of weeks ago....and noticed yesterday...I could not manage to hit OK or X to back out of a screen...anyone have the same problem? Any solutions?

I have had some problems with the accuracy of the screen with gloves and my solution was to attach a PDA stylus to the side of the 2610 and use that for the touch screen. I have found that much more accurate than trying to be accurate with gloves. I think it is also kinder to the screen than pushing and brushing with a, sometimes dirty and nasty, glove.

Funny you should mention it. I have a feeling my 2610 is losing touch screen calibration, too. Yesterday, while doing some serious button pushing, I'd go for scaling up the map and get something other than that, or trying to go from "track up" to "north up" wouldn't "take". FWIW, I tried a stylus a couple of times (while parked) and it seemed that the accuracy actually dropped. Or I need to recalibrate with a stylus and see what happens.
Using a stylus while rolling strikes me as a near non-starter. I've had styli bite the dust because the ball developed a little "tooth" after being dropped. And the idea of taping one to a glove finger? Oooooh, I think not. Sorry but I can't say as I'm lovin' that one.

Could the outside temps be a factor on the LCD touchscreen calibration when used on the bike? What if you performed a touchscreen test with gloves inside the house? Just curious.

It's not the destination, but the journey, that counts. A sport-tourer's ride between two points is seldom a straight line. He will often seek the most convoluted route possible.

Good point. I really haven't had a problem with mine and I have ridden in a few cold days.

What say we move this topic to the right forum, to Gadgets? See "Problems with my 2610" there.
