Sigourney Weaver should kick that thing's ass

+1

I do think however that Buell is headed in the right direction with an offering other then a HD powerplant. Opens them to a much wider audience.

I like it, but I'd probably never own one.  The front fairing looks just like their race bikes, sort of stingray-like with the wide, flat shape.

this bike tells me that buell really know what they are doing, and what the bike buying public want,s . the good increase in fuel capacity is an indication that a full on sport touring version of this new engined bike is clearly in their minds . i expect that they already have plans for this bike to come with a higher more effective fairing, panniers, . it really would not take much to make it into a serious sport tourer . They've got my attention. I don't mind the looks at all, but would need to see one in person before I gave any marks for beauty.  The airflow was (supposedly) looked at very closely for noise and heat. If that causes it to look a little funky, who cares?

The price was a bit high, but you are getting quite a few features.

I wonder if the shape of the fairing and side intakes for the radiator would cause both to be damaged in the event of a drop. A parking lot mishap could be quite costly. Doesn't look as if frame sliders would help much. (Owning an overweight top heavy bike I tend to think about these things.)

We can be hopeful.  The fact that hard bags are available for NONE of the XB line except the Ulysses doesn't presently support that hope, though.

Is it me, or does it have an odd sized rear tire. Headscratch  Is it running normal sized rubber?

It looks better in "real life" pictures (especally the upper), but yeah it does look wierd.  But Erik does have a tendency to be kind of wierd about bodywork:

I'll admit it... I fail to understand how anyone can think the new R-1 is sexy and the new Buell is ugly.  Headscratch

Take a look at those cats.  Definately something that I've never seen.

I don't mind the side profile, but the front......

Looks interesting but I can't get over MCN's long-term report on a Buell Uly.  The things that went wrong on that bike in about 15K miles was crazy.  Too many things.

designed around the rider. What a concept! Looks are secondary to function... revolutionary!

You shouldn't buy an 1125R, then. They're exactly the same in every regard.

Dude... I was disqualified long ago. I drive a Scion xB and used to think the Ford Granada was a decent looking car.

If that fairing is truly functional and creates a lower Cd than a more conventional one, then I applaud his willingness to be different.

I just read that the other day too.  For chrissakes, the kickstand fell off...TWICE!  (First the weld broke, then, after that was fixed, the bolts sheared and the bike ended up horizontal.) Crazy

Not to mention all of the other crap that fell off...

No thanks,
Jake

Honestly, I kinda like the hammerhead fairing. The radiator cowling and the exhaust are grotesque but I'd imagine the after market will address both of those. I'd like to see what it looks like with the radiator cowling removed.

Everything else appears to be standard issue Buell.

The mini-website explains the shape of the bike's fairing.  It is actually very similar to the shape of the XBR-R.

It provides the rider with a lot of wind protection, all the way to the arms and hands.  They call it a "Quiet Zone Environment" for the rider.

It looks weird because it is unconventional.  But form follows function.
