Just like to post some pics of this Triumph T100 that pulled up to the Mushroon Addition restaraunt in Faquier (Awesome food)  Thumbsup where my wife and I had stopped for quick bite while on a quick little 2 day ride.  Bigsmile

The gentleman that was riding it had trailered it to Princeton from Vancouver so that he and his friend could tour around Nakusp and then down throught the Kootenays. By the way, the guy that owned it was in his early to mid 70's

Too bad he had left his gear on the bike.

The Virago next to it is my Dad's.
The Triumph is his friend's, who's family owns Purdy's Chocolates.
He bought the bike in fairly rundown condition and then sent it to Triumph in England to get restored.
He asked them how much it was going to cost and they said to just send them 1000 pounds a week and they would send it back when it was finished.
20 weeks or around $40,000 later, they sent it back.
They stopped by my place on their way and I still have the drops of oil in the driveway that he said was standard on old British bikes.

It was great talking to your dad and his friend. That Triumph was nice. Tell your dad that I'm not great at guessing one's age, so maybe I was way off on his friends age.   Headscratch

I think your guess was a bit on the kind side. Dad/Jim is 78 and Charlie is about the same.

Good God. Crazy

I suppose though, its no worse than shelling out $100,000.00 for a chopper.

That's a neat old Triumph.

A buddy of mine has a couple old Nortons, one of which he sent to a guy in Edmonton for restoration.  After spending enough money to buy two new sportbikes, he still has...an old Norton, that really doesn't look or run a whole lot better than it did before "restoration."  There are a number of problems which have cropped up since...

I think restoring a bike is a great thing to do, but I dunno if I'd simply send it off to someone else (even if I could afford to).  On the other hand, once I'm in my 70s I may change my tune on that!

I probably shouldn't have posted how much he paid for it. I usually regret inet posts I make, so I don't much anymore.
I'm told he is actually quite thrifty and was maybe a bit embarrassed about it. So if you see him around please don't mention it.  Embarassment
But yeah, people pay a lot for those Orange County Choppers and whatnot. That would be more embarrassing to me.

Agreed.

Hey, there's a Norton restorer in Castlegar (http://www.norton-place.com/), and Canada's largest dealer for Laverda parts is in Nakusp (http://www.laverda.ca/).  There are a few classic bikes around.

Not a bike, and not really all that classic, but here's mine:
