A friend of mine was at the Suzuki trade show a few weeks ago and was told by an individual that sv fans will be "very pleased" this year. Anyone heard any dirt on improvements or changes being made to the sv650?

Cant' find the link, but Suzuki is supposed to be making over the SV650 engine (I'm guessing....hoping...that this applies to the Sv1K engine as well).  It's supposed to be 40% more fuel efficient.

I'd be very interested to learn how they're making such a huge increase in fuel efficiency.  That would put it up into, what, the 70mpg range?  That's great, as long as you have the option to crank on the throttle and get 30mpg if you want.

I do know that the V-Strom 650 went to 2 spark plugs per cylinder in '07, which was said to increase fuel efficiency.  Maybe they're doing that with the '08 SV?

It would also be nice to see the SV1KS's ergos overhauled, toward a more VFR-like riding stance.  Suzuki has to be noticing that EVERYONE who buys one is swapping out the handlbars and footpegs.  If someone wants that riding position, let them buy a GSXR1000.

This is extremely unlikely.

The sv650 went to a twin spark plug design in '07 in order to meet euro3 emissions standards.

I regularly get 58mpg on my '06 model, so I doubt there's much room for improvement...unless they go hybrid or diesel.... Twofinger

Wow, an SV750...  that would be hot.  Inlove

ZLoc already makes a 744cc kit for the SV650 motor.  Think about that one for a minute for the WeeStrom. Smile
