BSD won't be joining us - scheduling conflict came up.  So he wanted me to start a new thread - mainly so that any updates that need to be done can be kept at the top of the thread for quick reference.  Since BSD won't be maintaining the original thread he selected someone else to be the ringleader.

Now WHY he selected ME can only be representative of poor Mod-ship!   Lol

My evil little plan for Saturday's ride from Chester is to ride south to California 70, ride it west to Chico early enough that traffic won't be brutal, come back over the legendary Oroville-Quincy highway, and hence north to Chester.

Although I go to Tahoe from Seattle every year, for some reason I've yet to ride either of those two roads.

It's about a 250 mile loop door to door from Chester.   Thumbsup

Another outstanding ride is south from Chester to Greenville, and then east to Janesville.  But I've done that one five or six times now.

Assuming there's a campground within striking distance, count me in-- I need the break after this summer's projects (the joys of working in higher ed)...

Anyone else want to caravan up from SoCal?

The SoCal plan is to leave Thursday night and get East of Bakersfield Fresno, grab a shitty hotel late at night.  Then it's 500+ miles from the hotel through the backroads of Kings Canyon, Sequoia  (sshhhhh, it's a secret!), 49, and up to Chester.  Expect 14 hours in the saddle.  I don't think it will be possible to maintain much over 52mph on the roads I've planned.

Anyway, you've got my number.  Call me.

And yes, would love to have you join us...IF you think you can keep up!

Is this the same bsd43 who is currently requesting us to change the traditional dates for WCRM V so that he could attend the meet and is now cutting out on the WCRM IV.5 that he helped to organize and pick the times for?   Headscratch

Who is familiar with Chester and the general area?  Can you advise us on the  "must ride" roads while we are there?  I'd be happy to put something together but I'm not at all familiar with the area so I'd just be picking the most squiggly roads on the map.

Thought's please.

What is the significance of Highway 70 being pink?  Is that a road to avoid, or a road to pursue?   Bigsmile
