Last summer I bought a sidecar rig with an R100R tug and Velorex 700 chair. (See, I'm even learning the lingo  Razz )

Anyway, it had the stock telescopic forks. It was fun, but even with wide bars it was a lot of work to turn, particularly left turns when accelerations. A friend had a leading link front suspension and decided to sell it so I bought it and we put it on today.

Holy Cow!  EEK! It's like having power steering. I can't believe how easily it turns. And there's no brake dive. The front end actually lifts a but under braking.

Anyway, if you have a sidecar rig and are thinking about switching to a leading link, Go For It! You won't be sorry. The difference is like night and day.

Yep, my Ural has leading link suspension and it's wonderful.  Glad you'll get to enjoy the same advantages.

OK, pictures, though they're not very good:

And some questions for the sidecar experts out there:

How much of the improvement is due to the leading link (such as no brake dive) and how much is due to modified geometry (trail - reduced steering effort.)

What is the steering geometry and effort for the Urals with sliding forks? Have they modified the geometry to reduce steering effort?

thanks,

Cool.

Can you ride the leading link bike without the hack? Or is it too weird? Headscratch

Who gets to ride in the outrigger?

Wife tried it out once and decided she'd rather ride her own bike. My son (Niner) took his wife for a ride in it and she liked it, so they are looking for a sidecar rig now.

I'm pretty sure I can ride the leading link without the chair. Didn't some of the older airheads use leading links? Yes, those were the Earle's forks as seen on this page: http://jeff.dean.home.att.net/slash2.htm
