Going to try this route pretty soon. Monument & Death Valley/Redwoods & Pacific Highway
According to Streets & Trips its just over 3200 miles. It'll be my first real tour on my bike.
So I'm planning extra days for stops if I happen to need them. Staying clear of most freeways,
there fun but get boring real quick.

So far my longest trip has been an approx. 600mile day trip up to the Grand Canyon & back.

Eventually would like to try Phoenix to Anchorage and back, figured this trip would help iron
out the bugs in my plan. Should be interesting on a ninja 250  Crazy

Looks like a great ride, but actually that map is pretty hard to read. Can you post a better resolution image of it somewhere on the web? If you don't have webspace email it to me and I'll host it for you. Also, isn't this a Region 1 post?

Aside from the housekeeping, the ride looks good. Is that 299 you're taking to get from I-5 to the coast? Try 36 instead. Is that 49 you're taking from western Yosemite to I-5? Nice road, but really slow in the summer - tourists and lots of towns. Might be some other alternatives.

When you going?

Yep, most of my route looks like Region 1, went straight to my home
region   Embarassment

Hopefully going in the next 4-5weeks, have to pick up a tent, bag, rainsuit
couple other minor things. Would be cool to ride with others along the way,
but everyones schedule is different just have to go by ear. The trick will be
trying to pack everything safely on my bike. Just got some Nelson Rigg tail &
saddlebags.

That's better. It looks like in Utah you're taking 95 to Hanksville, then 24 to 12. That is one really nice bit of riding. 95 is totally desolate but gorgeous, and 24/12 are only the best riding in Utah. You might want to think about crossing the Sierra on 108 instead of 120. Yosemite is nice, but filled with tourists and cops. Plus it costs $20 just to drive through. You better plan to stay with Dr. Gil and Beck-zuki when you're in Eureka. If they find out an STNer was in town and didn't look them up, they get mad. Smile

You know, with smugmug you can click on the Share button, then choose "formus blogs etc" and it will give you a URL that points directly to your photo, without the smugmug stuff. Then you get something like this

Looks good to me.  Thumbsup

if you have a little extra time you might dip into southwestern Colorado as there are some great roads there.

Schedule & budget are going to be a little tight so Colorado might be out.  Sad
It's definitely on my list though.

Well it looks like I'll be leaving on time, the 24th.  Bigsmile I just wanted to thank everyone
for the help & suggestions. As much as I enjoy just winging it, with limited time and
resources I think I've managed to plan a hell of a trip thanks in no small part to everyone
on the forum.  Beerchug
