I was out at the Yamaha customer appreciation day here at Stratotech park here in Edmonton, and was able to take an R-6s & the new R-1 out on the road.

What a fun experiance that R-1 is (for the half hour I had it) I would just love one of these to kick around on occasion with. Of course I would probably loose my license very quickly. Absolute gobs of power in any gear. The Yamaha reps were giving me scoldings (with grins on their faces) about how they could hear me shifting from a 1/4 mile away. I explained to them that I thought I was no where near redline.

I would have loved to play with that bike away from the pack of cruiser riders I was forced to follow. I think I scared the fellow who was in front of me a few times.

But the R-6 was actually a barrel of fun also, and probably a bike one would live longer on.

I am finding though that it is time to accept that I am an old. After a half hour on either bike, I was feeling things I never felt before, and they were not all good.

If I ever find myself with some extra cash to play with, I would love to have one of these in the garage for a trck day or two.

I had the opportunity to take the FJR out on the track here with a local racer (just to get aquainted) but the 32 degree celcius temp's after my R-1 ride, did not want to make me put on the full leather race suit they were going to lend me for the track.
Maybe next year!

I have to echo your statements, I would love to have an R1 to play with but would loose my license rather quickly, that and I am not as young as I use to be Burnout

Well, I've had some supersports and I've definitely moved in the other direction, the vintage direction. So far I'm as happy on the old bike as I was on the new bikes, and I'm certainly having as much, if not more, fun going at much slower speeds. YMMV.

Funny thing, I'm in more danger of losing my license on one of the dual sports or motard then when I'm on the R1 or Busa.  Lol
