My GTS got dropped on both right and left sides.  I won't bore you with the gory details, but at least it wasn't me in the drivers seat at the time.  Does anyone know where I might be able to find bodywork?  I would be forever in your debt, and would even happily pay a finders fee where applicable.  Thanks, Wade

Yeah, me too!  Lol

Anyway's I've got two, but I'm way too lazy to start parting 'em out, though I may get a cash windfall over the coming years if I did. I'm willing to let 'em both go for 5k. Both run great and ride great,  both cosmetically challenged. Between the two you could probably cobble together a decent set of plastics, though paint would be involved. My eventual plan was to put together a nice example of the two to sell in the same price range of around 5k. You can have 'em both for the same price. If you fly down you can ride one and I'll ride the other up to your place if you pay for my ticket back Wink.

AirTech has composite GTS fairing. Its a "race" fairing, all the little fairing bits and the fuel tank cover are molded together as well as the headlight opening, but its an option if you can't find any stock bodywork.

There are also a couple of guys who repair broken and rashed ABS bodywork.

Dang-- well you will be forever in Debt....thats going to be expensive! Crazy

I have a parts GTS, with full plastics. But I am saving those for a rainy day...I would be in your same boat if I ever had a slide.

Maybe Zanotti's has plastics for you. I think your best bet is to find the plastics in Europe, since they had many more GTSs sold over the years. Get on the GTS archive list serve and see what anyone knows...

Craigslist might be a good place to find out.

Thank you all for your replies.  First, forever in your debt is a code for next time I see you I'll buy you a beverage of your choice. Lol  Next: I loaned/gave the bike to a friend, he was going to keep it fully insured, and if he totally wanked it (is that a phrase?) he would give me the money.  So there we are going to MotoGP over highway 3 in NorCal, and he hits a damp patch and lowsides.  Of course I'm right behind him so I can watch in slo-mo techniclor as he grinds the right side of my bike down.  Well, I knew when I handed it over that bad things might happen, so take it with a grain of salt, fix later, the friend is okay and that's the important bit.  Later that day we stop on the shoulder to wait for the tailgunner in the group, and as 'cyclists are wont to do we all get off the bikes to chat.  It's downhill where we stopped, and above mentioned friend didn't put the bike in gear, so it rolls off the side stand and lands on the left side this time.   EEK! Not sure what to say now, but again, when I handed it out I had to be ready for the worst.

Who repairs plastic?  That might be a great avenue if anyone knows a reputable fixer.  The mirrors are scuffed but paintable, the upper is scuffed but paintable, the right side is missing a bit of plastic, but it's not drastic Wink, the left just needs the turn signal housing and some paint.  5k$ is more than I should spend getting it together, but thanks for the offer.  I do have to say that the ride up might be worth 5k anyway though.  Everything else a bonus after that! Thumbsup  Good info though, and I'll look into the 'race plastic' as well.  Can you imagine racing one of these tanks, you could put an aneroxic monkey (read Dani Pedrosa here)on the back and still be overweight!  Bye for now.

There was an article somewhere sometime about someone coverting a GTS into a racebike. They pretty much made their own swingarm front and rear, replaced the exhaust etc..
I think they shaved close to 120lbs off the bike..I believe it was an IOM racer....

Yeah, it was in one of the british mags, at least that's where I saw it.  Still, minus 120lbs, it still weighs in around 500lbs, Crazy, that's a lotta wieght!!

Keep in mind that when the GTS was built, contemporary liter bikes (FZR1000, CBR1100, etc.) were also tipping the scales at over 500+ lbs.

The GTS list is good place to start looking for parts. There is a enthusiastic (fanatical?) group there and they always seem to be willing to help out a fellow GTS pilot in need.
It sounds like you might be better off fixing and painting then replacing. There is a lot of good articles on the subject and it's a LOT cheaper then replacing.

If they did update the GTS, Yamaha USA wouldn't import it and we would just be left sitting drooling over pictures.
