Let some of the pretty out

Ooops. I let some of the pretty escape from the FJR last night. I was attempting to get the bike up on the center stand and I slipped. Slowly and steadily it sank down onto the right side. Damn that thing is heavy. There was no way to catch it and believe me, I tried.
I got my right fingers caught in the grab handle area somehow, so before I could right the bike again, I had to get myself free of it. Then came the heroic (actually rather pathetic) heave to get her upright again. Did I mention that this bike is really heavy?
Damage? Outside edge of the right mirror housing is scuffed pretty badly. A single pointy bit on the right lower fairing is scuffed like the mirror. A couple of very light scratches in the paint of the right middle fairing. Light scratches to the right bar end, and ends of the footpegs. Passenger peg bracket was bend inward a bit. No other damage and nothing I won't be able to cover up with some touch up paint.
I finished washing the bike -- which was why I was screwing around with it in the first place. Then I checked things out to see if anything was bent or out of alignment. After loosening and re-tightening the mirror bolts and handlebar bolts, everthing seemed fine. The passenger peg bracket I bent back out by hand and it seems the same as the left side now.
I'm impressed that so little of the bike came in contact with the ground. When my touch up pen arrives, most traces of the damage should be hard to notice. I'm actually not upset about the paint damage. I'm a bit embarrassed by how I dropped it, but that it has a little "character" now... meh. I'm still debating frame sliders, since in this case I doubt the scuffs would have been any less -- in slightly different places, but just as bad. The mirror probably still would have taken a hit.

Ah bummer, sorry to hear about your bike's christening.
I'm sure glad my wife's FJR doesn't have a chain; I hate putting that thing up on the centerstand and fortunately don't really need to do it very often.

I have a OEM rt hand side mirror for an 05 FJR. I replaced mine with the FZ1 mirrors, much gooder. If you want it it's yours, PM me.

Thanks! But I've got a different OEM mirror. The 2nd Gen mirrors are unfortunately color matched. I don't want to order a new mirror, since those things are expensive and way backordered, apparently. I'll see how the touch up paint I ordered works and order a new mirror only as a last resort.
I think I may have slightly tweaked the fairing stay that is inside the nose. My mirrors look a little cockeyed since the drop. I might dismantle the nose over the winter to see if I can't get things square and true again. But that is a major project that I don't want to lose riding time over.
