I was rather unceremoniously flamed from the Rat.net for posting some pics that were what I thought were quite humorous. While in exile in cyber purgatory I discovered this board and I think I've found a second place to waste hours of what was normally productive time. I adjusted my medication, appealed my case, and grovelled sufficiently enough to be reinstated. Rat.net is a great board for a Triumph owners (though they whine quite a bit) and with nearly 1000 posts in 15 months I was addicted. Should I offend anyones sensibilitiys this board (though I haven't noticed any yet) please accept my humble apologies in advance. With that I'd like to buy a round for everyone Beerchug Beerchug

Thanks ZED for the idea for this post

I don't know if you even CARED to notice but there's a PINNED thread at the top of this forum for introducing yourself. This isn't the right place to do it and if you would have LOOKED around for 10 seconds and put just a little effort into it maybe you would have seen it! Dang!

 Lol

You mean like that.  Bigsmile

I've left two boards on my own but I've never been banned.
First was sportbike heavy.  Two stuntaz ran into each other and both died.  I asked what happened.  One of the dead stuntaz' buddies threatened to find me and inflict harm.  He said it was disrespectful to ask how, why, what since when one's time is up, it's up and they would both be dead no matter how they'd been riding that day.   He only lives 100 miles from here.  I left the forum after the mods left his post up for a week.
Second is all bikes, some cruisers, some sportbikes.  I asked if one riding group still drank and rode.  I'd left one of their rides after the drinking started.  I honestly thought the trouble makers had been booted, since they'd been removed from another riding group.  One of the drinkers threatened to sue me for my statements, even though she knew it was a frivolous lawsuit.  It would have required me to take days off work and drive halfway across the state to attend court.  She also threatened to go after the guy who left with me.  He's an MSF guy and she was going to send a picture of him at the table piled high with all of her group's beer bottles.  Since I quit that board things are much better.

I was temporarily banned form a brand specific board onct -- my politics and lack of public religious chest thumping got the board owner cranky --

called me a "swank leftie" -- while I'm not at all certain what that means, I kinda liked it, to be honest

Never been flamed off.  But I've left many because I either got bored, they died out, or I just didn't "mesh" with the with the board.  Squid boards are why I started ST.N in the first place.  One can only read so many wheelie, burnout, crash, and Hooters picture threads before one wants to tear their hair out. Lol

Oh wait, I have been banned from one site.  http://www.shacknews.com  It's a gaming site.  I was banned from there MANY years ago because the owner has 12 year old twats moderating the place...and I let him know how I felt about it.  Some people just can't take any criticism.  I've been flamed and insulted here many times over the years...never banned anyone, and many of those people are still here. I am pretty active on a few boards.  One in particular I have been posting regularly since 2001.  They had a political section that was fun to partake in and was moderated well.  They decided to let it go with no moderation and it turned into a hellhole.  A different forum sprouted from the regulars in that political section and I post there regularly as well and just got banned a few days ago.  First time ever on any board.

One of the more liberal posters put up yet another thread about Fox news.  I did a search and saw this was his 14th thread in 6 months that he created just to bitch about Fox News (this isn't a busy site either.  Maybe 2-5 new threads a day).

I told him that every satellite and cable company in the US has at least 150 channels.  He needs to just learn how to change it to a different station and quit obsessing over it.  The Mods thought I was being hostile  Rolleyes and needed a 4 day ban.  It was worth it  Twofinger

I always liked Rat.Net, lot's of nice people on there and good sense of humor for the most part. I stopped going on there when they changed servers and wouldn't recognize my account. Don't matter really, I don't have a Triumph anymore. I lurk and post on here occasionally and few other brand specific bike sites. I have to admit one of them is fucking useless and most of the "technical" questions are about who makes the loudest pipes and why does my bike run like shit after I loaded on $5000 worth of mods with my cresent wrench and screw driver tool kit....

I'm a long time member on what was the oldest and best Motorcycle site on the web, they recently changed ownership and totally clusterfucked the place but me and a few other oldtimers are trying to keep it running until the new owner sells it and we can make something of it again. I also go on Landy-Zone for info on my Range Rover Classic restoration that'll probably take forever.  I also check a lot of other m/c sites to see whats been going on.

I've never been banned from a website though I've been 86'd from a bar a time or two

I was banned from SBN for saying I knew how to modify a leather jacket to fit me better.

One of the mods runs a leather repair business and I guess she felt threatened.  Lol

Funny thing is that I met my boyfriend on SBN, and independent of my banning he and most of the good members are very close to leaving because they are all 'tards over there.

I'm very active on two boards, somewhat active on another three, and relatively quiet on yet another two.  Never been banned or suspended from any.  I guess I don't hang around for long on boards where the owners/mods are that sensitive or dictatorial.  I did make a point once and chose the wrong moment for it, which earned me an Ignore status with a handful of posters.  I apologized, they forgave, I dropped off their Ignore lists.

I mod on another (non-moto) board, and have voted a small number of folks off that island during my time (reign?) there.

Which makes my being ignored by someone here all the funnier, as this is far and away the most rough-and-tumble board of the lot.  Bigsmile

I almost got banned from the ITOG (Isuzu Trooper Owners Guild) board. The admin. was high up with Isuzu and was trying to hide the info about the shitty 3.5l motor that likes to blow up. Isuzu was trying to keep it a deep dark secret. I kept posting up the procedure to get the motors replaced and he got his panties in a bunch Bigsmile

I hang at .org most of the time (XXer's know what I mean) No one gets censored or banned. Ripped a new a$$hole yes, but never banned Bigsmile

How about a hint?  Would Dale be involved?

That's the board that banned me and BLOCKED my static IP so I couldn't even view posts!  Oh well, just bought another IP and NAT'ed it to a specific PC for my viewing pleasure.

I mod on another (non-moto) board, and have voted a small number of folks off that island during my time (reign?) there.
Which makes my being ignored by someone here all the funnier, as this is far and away the most rough-and-tumble board of the lot.  Bigsmile

There was one board that I made one post and never went back because it was so bad. Another that reinforced my decision to sell the ZR7. There’s one more I still go to from time to time just because it’s such a freak show. I can’t say I’ve been banned though, at least not that I’m aware of.

Fastest way ( if it's a goal ): show up on any product-specific board and talk about how bad that product is. It helps to be truthful. The truer and more honest you are about what you don't like about a product, or better, how the product failed or fell apart, the quicker the flames start.

there is something charming in being asked, "Sir, have you ever been or are you a member of the communist party."   Cool

It evokes such a sense of nostalgia for lost and long ago times.   Lol

Hey I got asked that when I got my US citizenship!..........

"Are you now or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party"

"Were you a member of the National Socialist German Workers Party between the years 1933 and 1945 and if so do you still hold those beliefs"

"Have you ever participated in or been witness to war crimes or crimes against humanity or participated in the persecution of persons based on religious beliefs or membership in an ethnic group"

"Have you ever committed a crime for which you were not apprehended "

I guess the last one is some kind of basic intelligence question  Lol

I wanted a comparison between the XX and the FZ 1, especially in a couple of areas.

So I went over to the FZ! board and asked.

Couldn't get an answer for people plugging the FZ1  Lol  One of the members actually sent me a PM that answered my questions, and commented on the inability of most of the board to actually make anything but complimentary statements about the FZ1....  Lol  I guess he was afraid to post factual information on the site Lol

Okay.

Hey, C. Hornbe.  Wot's all this then?  Tell me about your Concours.

hahahahah. Man, can of worms, my friend. Can of worms. Get your flame suit on and remember... you started it Smile (and I'm not so big, and I haven't been in a bar brawl in a long, long time Wink )

I bought a 2005 Connie. My first brand new bike. It pretty much started falling apart right from the git-go. Blew the rear in the first week because it was bone dry. The gas tank leaked at a seam and ruined a riding jacket I had. Two of the valve adjusters were cross-threaded and stripped from the factory. The right fork had a persistent noise and "sticktion" problem that the dealer couldn't identify. That's all that outright failed with the bike, and all of that was in the first few weeks of ownership. It had numerous other issues with parts literally falling off or falling apart.  It had a horrible vibration, and several other people familiar with Connies agreed; worse they'd ever been on. That's all that reall went wrong on *that* bike. However, the things about the Connie that I didn't think warranted all the fanfare about the bike continue to be what everyone spends thousands of dollars farkling up to fix, replace or enhance: twiggy forks, flex-n-glide frame, horribly undersprung, horribly under-braked, cruiser-like buffeting, necrosis-inspiring engine buzz felt all over the bike, etc.

The dealer tried to blame me for some of the problems and Kawasaki basically said "good luck". I spent weeks going back and forth with the dealer and K about the bike's problems and no one could explain to me how they *couldn't* possibly be warranty items. The dealer did say, "well, we don't really know that you didn't drain the rear and blow it up".  Lol Yeah, I'm going to do that to my week-old, brand new bike! I had to literally fight with them to get them to fix it, and even after having several people tell me "this isn't going to be covered by Kawasaki", the owner had the balls to say "well, you're not really giving us time to resolve this." Explaining that no fewer than four of his employees had already told me they weren't going to fix it never really seemed to register with the guy.

I even said he should just take the bike back and get me another one, or get Kawasaki to give me a credit towards another model of bike altogether. I'd have dropped the cash difference and bought the ZZR1200. They offered me a $6000 trade in, instead. WTF?

I got a shit post-sale deal and support from a shit dealer on a shit bike from a shit manufacturer. Great seat, tho'. Rivals anything, stock or after-market, that I've owned since.

To hear stories of people buying a brand new connie than spending weeks retorquing and adjusting things to try to weed out the buzz, replacing handlebars and triple-tree tops to mount superbike bars, etc... Just silly. The bike debuted in 1986, and I'd expect these "fixes" if it was 1989. But in 2005 you might expect that Kawasaki would have introduced a *few* incremental enhancements to make the bike not suck. But... alas... no. I continue to think that for 1986 it *was* a hell of a bike! But time forgot it, Kawasaki abandoned it.

I owned the bike for 3 months, 6500 miles. I was happy to be rid of it. I test rode a 2003 they had there and bought the '05 new. In hindsight, I shoulda bought the '03. Way better color, too. I've seen the bike twice in the 2 years since I owned it. When last I saw it, earlier this year, it had 800 miles more on it than when I sold it. I spoke to the guy who bought it from the dealer where I traded it in. He said he HATED it after a few days for all the same reasons I did.

I continue to think the engine had a crankshaft or balance-shaft issue that made the buzz so much worse than others, but it was easier for people to just tell me I don't know how to ride it. And I can't tell you how many times someone said "if you want a better bike, spend more money"  Headscratch  Yeah. Ok. So I can buy a bike that costs less and just accept that stuff's gonna break and fall off it. Ok, then.  Headscratch I don't expect perfection, but I sure as heck expect the parts to stay on and the bike to *not* buzz me to death.

But it's ok... I just didn't know how to ride it. That's all.

Chris,

Man you must have a masochistic side to your personality! Let the games begin.............

Mike

nah, you gotta call 'em as you see 'em. I'm a pretty large Kawasaki fan, mostly because I had almost no issues with a ZX-6E I had for 4 years and 36000 miles, but then I hear comments about how Kawasaki tells some folks to go take a hike. If that happens to me, I'll be jumping ship quick.

But back to this thread's intent.
Me, never been banned, never tried or got all that aggressive IMO. I've registered for a lot of boards and now I really just pay attention to this one. Lost interest in a few for various reasons. I had a V-Star for a short period and just before I got that bike, I joined a Honda Shadow forum (I was looking closely at one). I got censored the second day because I called a guy a prick after he goes on about how he was clearly being a blatant a-hole for some piddly little thing that happened on the road. Fook. Get over it. Let bygones be bygones. He's telling everyone how to retaliate or do the pre-emptive strike kinda shit. What a tool. So anyway they censor my post. Well F that. Also lost interest in cycle world forum, as it was just a constant argument between the Harley guys and the sport bike guys. Sheesh...change the channel or something.

Never been banned - although the OP's question was regarding being flamed off another board.

I guess I got flamed off the old Cycleworld forums - one guy on there went a little nuts and started pitching into a lot of people over nothing.  When he started in on me over something (I don't even remember what it was) I just sort of sauntered away - f*ck that noise.

If someone is actually arguing with people in the retardnet - Man, it's time to seriously re-evaluate your life...
