Power for GPS?
«

I just got the Garmin Zumo. I've already mounted it on my Sprint and I got the power from the accessory plug. That was easy.
Anyone know what's the best power source for for the GPS on a 99 T-Bird? I'd like the power source always on and not just when the key is on.
Thanks.

I set up s seperate fuse block for all my electrical farkels and power it off a 15 amp switched Bosch relay. The fuse for the GPS (Garmin Quest 2) is 1.5 amp. This powers a Powerlet outlet on the left side and I have anther powerlet outlet on the right side for another accessory such as a radar detector. I use another relay to power my 135db horns (2 magnum blasters) as well. Relays are my friends

I purchased and installed one of the fused terminal blocks from Riderwearhouse (I think) - ran thick leads to the battern, and now "all" my accessories (PIAA's, accessory plug for electric clothes, accessory plug for charger, GPS power) are taken from the block. Very tidy. ANd since the block is fused, the wiring from it to the accessory need not be.
The "downside" is that the block always has power - so anything to it will also.
