Scheduling has permitted another ST-ART class in Utah ... Sport Touring - Advanced Rider Training.  The course will be sunday 09/16/2007 at Miller Sports Park, east track (Spring class was on the West track).

As ST'ers we ride, not just bummin' around town, but we ride, 200, 300, 400 miles or more on any given day.  East Canyon, Monte Cristo, Wolf Creek, Hwy 31 down to Huntington ... even the old access road to Snowbasin Ski Resort ... these are the types of roads we ride.  These consist of tight S-turns, long fast sweepers, decreasing radius blind turns, and so on.  Sure we ride them, probably even in a spirited manner, but can we improve our technique in them, ride them better, smoother, more fluid?

The course emphasizes head turns, really looking through the turn, body ergo's during the turn (shifting the torso or sliding off the seat a tad, etc), smooth use of brakes and gears entering the turn, smooth use of the throttle during and exiting the corner, body position during the turn ... are your wheels in your lane but You've leaned into the oncoming lane??? ... How often do you get to practice your ride without fear of debris in your lane, oncoming traffic crossing over, various animals and varmits jumping out at us as well as having an Instructor follow you and giving you pointers along the way?  This is what we get out of this class, increased skills we can take out to the real world, without worrying about the real world trying to kill us while we practice them!

Class is an ongoing evolution for teaching ST'ers proper cornering techniques and touring techniques.  This will be the third time the class is taught, with each class improving on the previous ones.  It is designed to help us create better skills and habits for cornering ... this is NOT a track day but rather a day to help us improve our riding technique.  Speeds are reduced and maintained throughout the day, so no racing or the like.  If you're looking for a "Track Day", this isn't it.  If you're looking for a day to improve your skills in a safe and challenging environment, then this could be a class for you.

If anyone's considering this, particularly if you're a track noob, DO IT.  Thumbsup

You're killin' me.
The last one was scheduled the day I left to visit friends in Panama. This one the day after I arrive in Rochester NY. At least I'll be riding home this time. Please keep these opportunities going. I will make one of them. Thanks for trying
