Thought I'd start it since I didn't see one.  I make no distinctions between 1st and 2nd generation bikes (same with my SV...except while it can be reasonably argued that the 2nd gen FZ1 bikes are prettier, nobody would argue that is true of SVs.  Bigsmile )

www.yamahafz1oa.com is a fantastic resource (and happens to be where I found my lovely bee for sale).

Anyway, let's hear from the other FZ STr's.

Does it count if I used to have one?  Does it count that I still hang with the FZ1 guys & gals over on the other board?

A fantastic bunch of people over there.

Every time I think second bike to get, I keep thinking it would be nice to get a nice dual sport like a Vee Strom, a KLR, or a Uly.  But, I can't get the FZ1 out of my head.  Who needs to venture down unpaved roads anyhow?  Then, I pass some nice unpaved roads and think, it would be nice to have a bike that would allow me to see where that goes!

Time will only tell, but the FZ1 w/ all Givi hard bags would be a blast to tour North America with.  The Daytona could be my short distance blaster and track whore.

Oh, the decisions life throws at us.  Lol

just got one this weekend, a 2004 (faster) blue. can't wait to do some touring on it, I traded in my F4i because I wanted something more comfy. what i didn't realize is that the FZ1 has a ridiculous amount of power compared to any 600 i have ever ridden. there is just an enormous, endless amount of power in every gear at every part of the rev range. makes me go Bigsmile

Hey Grad,

You'll also find that as you get older and beaten down by life, the FZ1 will be there to comfort you, not to torture you.  I love my 05 too.

Just thought I'd "weigh in" here.

I bought a FZ1 in 2001...first year...great bike.  It is kind of a toss up for me whether I "loved" the FZ or the Katana (after pipe and jet kit) more?  I talk more highly of the FZ, and miss it more, so I guess I wins the "love" question?  I'd probably still have it, or a newer one, 'cept for the wheelie "it" did with the wife on the back.  Was a bad day for me all around.  First, I told here it wasnt "planned"...her response..."Oh, so you cant control the bike?"  No No I replied....Second mistake, telling her that having her on the back changed the weigh distribution.."Oh, so you're saying I'm fat?" Normally, I am pretty cleaver getting myself out of tight spots with my wife...not that day.  Thus, today I ride a V Max  Razz

THe Max is nice, but it aint no Katana nor FZ.  Hey, maybe I'll start a Max thread?  Then I'll have a place that only I occupy  Bigok?

I had a 2005 FZ6 and kick myself for selling for $4300.  +1 for the FZ01A board.  I still ride with some of those guys and may even do a gathering one of these years.

  a BIG +1 FZ10A board

Man, where were you when I paid $4200 for my 02 FZ1!!! Yeah mine has Ivans done, AIS removed, carb cooling removed, a Two Brothers carbon fiber pipe and included lowers ... but

now lowers are trashed after an Oct off road experience  Lol and when swapping engine due to my misadventure, this dude was so happy all those extra hoses were removed

my bike is just waiting for shock to come back from Traxxion and new 47t sprocket and she's back on the road   Chili

spent the last 9 weeks tearing her completely apart inspecting for damage ... having to replace motor, shock linkages, exhaust mount mod's, radiator bracket weld, exhaust header, EXUP cables, etc... boy do I know this bke inside and out now!!!  Thanks to the FZ10A board, all my parts came used in great condition at a good price (including the replacement engine), so the financial picture wasn't a complete disaster

see ya, bernie

FZ01A Board...wow, been a long time since I thought about that site!  Three years ago they were a good bunch...and sounds like they still are!  The VMOA is made up of the same kind of people, just different rides and different names  Lol

There is allot of good info for the FZ there, and the folks are great- even the vendors. I called Ivan's last week about the FCE for the 06, and had a great talk- I told him the my 06 was running better since I had changed velocity stacks. when I told him I went to R1 stacks, he asked me why, I told told that all of the dyno sheets showed the power coming on in the upper part of the RPM's. He said he was going to try that and that I should cut the air box. He explained the areas to cut and the reasons why. There are not too many folks in the vendor world that will spend that time with someone who has not bought any thing from you. I am ordering the FCE and his Power Commander module (Fuel and ignition) from him

Is the Ivan device mentioned here the fix for the EFI management issues in the 06?  I found a place which I an get a killer deal on an 06, but would like to know how much this is and how easy it is to install.

Thanks!
