"Two motocyclists were killed and two others injured Thursday night after they crashed while apparently racing at a notorious Oakland drag strip, police said.
Erjude Victor Juanatas-Ventura, 22, of El Sobrante, and Jason Saradeth, 23, of Martinez, were killed at 10:52 p.m. while racing on Middle Harbor Road, police said.
Police were unsure exactly how fast they were going, but Gordon said it could have been high as 80 mph.
Traffic officer Jim Gordon said all four were on 'racing bikes'. The two men who died were on Yamahas and the other two were riding a Yamaha and a Suzuki, Gordon said.
Police said the men crashed into a curb and a retaining wall near where Middle Harbor becomes Adeline Street.
All four men were thrown from their motorcycles and some of the motorcycles skidded hundreds of feet before stopping, Gordon said.
Police suspect the men were among a larger group who had been racing on Middle Harbor. "
