Cdot is reporting 138 is closed near Wrightwood. I need to get from Palmdale to Big Bear and I'm leaving from CO tomorrow. Has anyone been through here and what the best alternative? It looks like there's a road that goes through Phelan but you'd have to get on I-5.
Thanks!

You could take SR18, but it'll be hot out there through Apple/Lucern valley.
Depending on which section is closed you might be able to take Big Pines>SR2>Lone Pine Cyn. Rd. which dumps you out on 138 just before the I-15 junction.

+1
Lone pine cyn. should work. 138 is closed from SR2 to 6.4 miles east. I'm 99.99% sure that Lone pine dumps onto 138 a lot further than 6.4 miles from 138/2 junction.
Here's a really fun route that should work for you:
