The old saying here is that there are 2 seasons in Wyoming - winter and road construction.  A big chunk of Togwotee Pass (Highway 26/287 between Dubois and Moran Junction) is being reconstructed.  Present conditions are not good for sport touring bikes.  The total construction area is about 50 miles with about 20 miles presently torn up.  The torn up sections are rough with the pilot cars doing about 20 mph - a bit too fast in my opinion.  I saw a guy dump his BMW dual sport and suspect others have done the same.  I suggest those looking to access Jackson and/or Yellowstone via sport bikes take alternative routes.  Oh, did I mention that there's a forest fire burning on the pass?

This will be a beautiful sport bike road - someday.  Best regards, ELN.

Becky and I rode it Saturday. It's torn up, but not so bad as to be impassable. She did it on her Ninja 650R with no problems and I did it on my Uly and actually had fun. The other traffic doesn't help things, but my biggest issue was the dust in the dry sections and mud in the freshly watered sections. Didn't seem to be much happy medium.

There were a few Harely riders and they weren't having the slightest bit of fun, but seemed to handle it well.

You are right, it will be a really sweet road when it's completed!

Have taken that road many times in the past and loved it the way it was.
Progress screwing things up again?
