The old saying here is that there are 2 seasons in Wyoming - winter and road construction. A big chunk of Togwotee Pass (Highway 26/287 between Dubois and Moran Junction) is being reconstructed. Present conditions are not good for sport touring bikes. The total construction area is about 50 miles with about 20 miles presently torn up. The torn up sections are rough with the pilot cars doing about 20 mph - a bit too fast in my opinion. I saw a guy dump his BMW dual sport and suspect others have done the same. I suggest those looking to access Jackson and/or Yellowstone via sport bikes take alternative routes. Oh, did I mention that there's a forest fire burning on the pass?
This will be a beautiful sport bike road - someday. Best regards, ELN.
