The STfool, FRZY, and I got out for a little ride today.  Kevin wanted to try out his new heated gear and Joel brought his new Tiger.  The ride started with a bad omen when some asshat came out of the gas station where we met and started asking questions about my FJR.  He was soon joined by his asshat buddy and the two of them insisted on telling me that my FJR was powered by the same engine that Yamaha uses on their snowmobiles.  I said not, but they were sure about it.  I don't know why some morons feel the need to prove their ignorance. Twofinger  Anyway, after the asshat encounter we headed out to do some roads in the Kettle Moraine area.  As soon as we left it started to rain.  Not a lot, but just enough to screw with the ride, considering the wet roads and the temperature.  We headed back to Black Canyon Coffee for one of the festive holiday drinks that Marge is offering this time of year.  Even though we didn't get in the riding we wanted, some is better than none.  This time of year you take what you can get.  It's been a few years since I got in a December ride. Bigok  It was good to hang out with those guys for awhile.  It sure beat the Christmas shopping I'm about to do now. Sleepy

A nice ride today. 301 miles for me and more than that for many of the rest of we 6.  Unbelievable for the last half of December, at least for me.  Will never happen again, not unless we're lucky enough to enjoy continued World Warming.

You should have told him that he was thinking of the Yamaha RX-1 Snowmobile which has a 998cc, 5 valve per cylinder motor very similar to the R1 and FZ1. Then explain to him that you are on an FJR which has a 1298cc four-cylinder engine with 4 valves per cylinder. You could even tell him that the snowmobile and the first generation FZ1 share the same tail light design. He would really be impressed with you then.

Exactly.  At that point you've been given license to make up as you go.

Hi Doug,

When the board came back up I took a new name; anyway, glad to see you got out. I really wish I hadn't stored the bike so soon this year. See you in the spring.

Joe,
Welcome back!  Most of us are returning to the site, albeit slowly.  Maybe by spring we'll be back at full strength.

I've got some some things to take care of on the ST2 over the winter and will probably be just finishing them on that next 50 degree day a few months from now.  Take care!
