Probably been covered 100 times, but I couldn't find anything.  Do the newest Ducatis require periodic valve adjustments?  If so, at what interval and is it easy to do for the mechanically inclined?

The service manual for the Monster S4R says every 12,000 km.  Allegedly, Ducati also simplified the valve design so that servicing it requires fewer parts, reducing the cost of the service itself.

The brand new ones are 7500 miles. From my personal experience it seems that they need adjustment the first time but then they tend to stay within spec. Now, that is the 2V motors. I can't speak for the 4V except that they have the new 7500 mile check too.

The older ones (2006 and older) have a 6k check. I am not good at valves but I know a lot of folks who do their own work on them. I try to do everything.

12,000km (7,500mi) interval on my new ST3 for valve adjustments.  (according to the manual)

I've heard that the actual adjustment isn't that bad, it's just time consuming to get the bike stripped down to that point.  I'll likely take mine to the dealer.  That way they can set the timing belt tension properly while they're at it.
