Let me start out by saying today had to be on of the top 5 day's in my riding career.  The weather was perfect mid 70's no humidity and I was in the zone.  Everything was flowing it was beautiful.

I live about 20 minutes East of Newark Ohio, I left at 9:30 and headed down I-70 East to RT 800 south.  Route 800 just south of I-70 is full of fast sweeping turns, it runs thru a hand full of towns but it is still a great road.  As you get further south on RT 800, near the Ohio river the road tightens up and the turns come fast and furious, there are a lot of 15MPH and 25MPH turns the last 10 miles before you hit the river..

I crossed the Ohio via ferry boat and headed for RT 18 in WV...

There was a few cars and truck on RT18 for the first 10 miles or so which surprised me.  As I made my way further down RT18 the traffic thinned out and was almost non existent.  Route 18 is a nice road tight turns good surface and fun.  I road RT18 down to RT 50 which is a 4 lane un divided highway.  There were some nice long sweepers,  I was cruising at 85MPH and it was real nice.  The road follows the valley so I was surrounded by mountains the whole ride on RT50 which was about 30-35 miles.
I turned off on RT20.  Route 20 if a freaking GREAT road a good combo of sweepers and some tight turns.  I rode RT20 for 40 or so miles.  I was really in the zone and no traffic at all.  Route 20 took me back to the Ohio river where I cross over and then jumped on RT536 (my favorite road) and to my luck not a car in site.  I took 536 north to RT78 West, from 78 west I jumped on I-77 north for a few miles then I-70 West back home.

The total mileage for today was 339
Total ride time 6.5 hours

What a GREAT day....

Pictures to follow.

Oh yeah.... I only saw one LEO all day..........  Bigok Bigok

ARRRRRGGGHHH!!! I've GOT to stop working these weekends so I can get out and go play too!! Those are some of my favorite roads as well Inlove Most of those are within a 20-25 minute ride for me! Drop me a line if you head this way again!

I've wondered about that ferry. How often does it run? Would you feel secure ferrying a 600 loaded for touring, without a center stand?

PS glad the weather was nice in the Buckeye... it was hotter than blazes at VIR!

I"ve crossed the ferry a couple of times and I think it mainly runs during daylight hours. Even if it's on the other side of the river, it only takes it a few minutes to come back across. I think it costs $2 for a motorcycle. And I would feel comfortable having it ferry a loaded 600.
