Is it me, or is the "tank" translucent? The windscreen is for sure...

Interesting.

Yeah you can get the XB9X's transparent bits for just about anything now.

Are the '08s at dealers yet? If not when?

Hey James,

The '08s are just coming in now. The local H-D dealer just got in a few new Buells. Yah, those gray and cherry red Buells are sweeett!  :thumbsup:If I could afford and justify a 2nd bike, I'd buy that and  a sport tourer in the Winter.  Bigsmile

Have you noticed that in all the '08 pics that the exhaust headers have a satin look to them. Are they ceramic coated? Or is it just airbrush work?

Sounds like someone may have to do a face-to-face with one of these bikes to get the answer to this question.  I feel that I'm up to the challenge!!!  I better leave the check book at home when I go to help with the temptation! Lol

I love the pipes.  The blue is decending on mine.  Thinking about the heavy nickle plate.

A nice looking Lightning, for sure.  Buell proportions are...just right...

Mine are gold, blue, and purple right near the heads...I think they look great like that!

On mine the blue is almost all the way down.  There was a small amount of blue when I bought it new, but now there is only a small amount of yellow.  I keep the revs from 3 to 4 and sometimes hold 5 on the highway.   The touque seems flat from 2.7 and I can scoot 'round at 2, its just I don't.

A guy near work has plated his pipes, and there is no blue.  I like the look.

Ok, that might be my favorite!  I really enjoyed the gold and black, the translucent red might'ove trumped that!  Have to see it in person!

I just found out that his pipes are actually ceramic coated and not plated.  You can jump off the bike and touch the pipe straight away, and they don't heat the frame near the right hand thigh.

I know someone that works at a Co. that makes some parts for Buell.  ALL of their pics (even the acc's) are HEAVILY airbrushed.

Hi HipGnosis,

You may be right, but I think that the total colour change is probably a bit further than they would go with the airbrush.  They show the stock 2007 colour in the 2007 catelog, and the 2008 colour is radically different.

The colour looks a bit more metallic than the ceramic I have seen, so either it is airbrushed, or it is painted metal.  If its metal, its going to blue.  In the 2007 Buell catalog there is not a bit of blue to be seen on any of the pipes.

The muffler is the same old, and so I wonder why bother with ceramic headers without a ceramic muffler.  I asked the dealer but they have no details yet, so its just wait and see.

You can get translucent air box covers.  When you get close you see straight into the works underneath.
The ceramic headers on this one are a special as well.  The 2008 headers are the same as the previous models.

I think that I had read somewhere on BadWeb that the silver piped ones are Euro models.
