What happened to all the rides that were posted last year?  I have hardly seen any this year.  Surely that many bike were not sold.  Here the summer is almost over and I bet there were less than 10 rides posted.

What was it?  Werethey generally to fast?  Everybody getting to old to ride? You ashamed of your dirty bike? Lol

Soon the colors will be changing and great rides will be avasilable again.  To all, lets get some listed.

Actually there's a pretty active local group. I:

went on three group rides
went to the local kart track (bikes allowed) 6 or 7 times
went to Pueblo (real track) once
went on a group ironbutt ride
went to 3 group sponsored events

I also missed quite a few local events including

Thursday night bike nights in Ft. Collins
A couple of track days at Pueblo
Several planned rides including Bishop's Castle, Peak-to-Peak, Trail Ridge Road, etc...
Ruff Riders in Colorado Springs.

I think if there wasn't quite such a busy local group, there might be more Denver based rides.

Well I guess you have answered it then.  Seems this site will not be the place to go for rides any more. I can't seem to get to many fokes here in the Springs interested in getting out ( there getting to old  Lol )  Time to look elsewhere  Sad

See  ya.

I don't really check this site for rides much anymore.
AdvRider's Rockies region is pretty active in setting up rides. Granted, many of them are dirt or dualsport, but many of the folks there own a few bikes - sportbikes and sporttouring bikes. Lots of great street rides start there too, with good seasoned riders. There's a fair amount of squidliness around some of the groups in the Denver area, I've gotten a bit picky about who I ride with I guess. I see stupid stuff every weekend, and prefer to ride quickly with those I know and trust.
I'm a long time dirt guy too, and love exploring Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah offroad. Don't see many of those rides being set up here.

It was a very active riding year - between the XR and KLR (Four Mile Freakout, WestFest and tons of other local dualsport rides).... and 26,400 miles on the ZX-14 (until last week when I rode it to Mississippi and traded it in), I burned thru my PTO completely a few times. A few trips to the coast, one for MotoGP, a few multi-day group rides to Devil's Hwy, Monument Valley, southern Utah, chunks of central/western/northern New Mexico....

Rode my XR400R 1100 miles in Mexico last Spring, down into Copper Canyon, etc.
Picked up a KLR not too long ago, been more fun doing street miles getting to the dirt, than riding a plated XR or KTM.

Heading up to Saratoga, WY and Snowy Range Pass this weekend as a matter of fact....

You're welcome to try and plan rides yourself here on the site. I do check it once in a while Smile

The few times I planned rides, the only folks that showed up was:

Rita and I have gone on a few rides as well and you can check in with the CSC folks for southern (ie Springs) rides. We do go on a few Smile

here's one for ya.
Tomorrow, Sat, Sept 8th. 9am, ready to roll soon after. Ft Collins, intersection of Taft Hill (Wilson in Loveland) and Harmony- gas station/car wash. head up Horsetooth Resv, Stove Prairie, Poudre, north into WYO at Walden, probably Battle Mntn to Steamboat, and back down Poudre.
given who is fer sure going, this will likely be a somewhat "spirited" ride.

Sounds like a nice ride. Rita already has plans for us though. She set them up yesterday so if it'd been posted earlier in the week, I could have gotten her to go Smile

Bikerfish...ride report please.  If not for work, I'd have made this one for sure.

Yea, we did a hike up in RMNP. Nice brisk morning and an excellent hike. We stopped at friends on the way home and they'll be dropping by tomorrow afternoon when they come in to town.

How was the ride though?

not all that much to "report", but i'll try anyway.
started the day with a run over Stove Prairie/Buckhorn Canyon. Very clean today- best i've seen it this year. just an occassional exhaust track from some range cattle.
http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q13/bikerfish1100/lbmatpoudre-stoveintersect.jpg
Mike seated on the RT, Larry intrigued by his GPS unit.
http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q13/bikerfish1100/waitingtogo.jpg
Barry M, in red, riding the chromed out S, would turn around here and run Stove again, then shoot home to make some $ turning wrenches.
(side note- anyone looking for a highly qualified, fair priced bike mechanic can contact barry thru me. he's well trained & certified in Ducati, BMW and H-D, and can probably fix/tune whatever you got, and save you a ton of $.)
Then it was up CO14 into Walden. a touch crisp going over Cameron, but not bad. Lunch in Walden at the Moose Creek Cafe http://www.moosecreekcafe.net/ I had the salad bar (not bad at all), Mike had the veggie beef soup (broth looked thin, but he said it was delicious, and seemed to have mucho veggies). Larry liked the salad bar with a side of blueberry pie.
Shot north for a run to the border- CO125 becomes WY230. High plains riding, some real pretty mntns to keep the looks enjoyable. Took a West onto WY70 at Riverside. I'd been up to Riverside once before, but that time we booked Northeast to go over Snowy Range. WY70 heads Westsouthwest over Battle Pass to Baggs. About a 55 mile run over some real scenic roads with great corners. Reminded me a bit of UT12 going west from Boulder. This is looking West from the Continental Divide on Battle Mntn.
http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q13/bikerfish1100/lookingwestfrombattlemntn.jpg
Gas in Baggs (cheaper than in that area of CO), then south to Craig, CO on CO13, then east on US40 to Steamboat. Quite a few LEOs between the WY border & Steamboat. Larry, sans "protection", was lucky that the sheriff on CO13 was still finishing the paperwork from the last tax contributor Wink. Liesurely coffee at Starbucks (we are on beemers, 's ok), then Rabbit Ears Pass (so beautiful looking west from the top, but by now it was 5:00, and the pic would have been dead into the sun, so I didn't bother even trying. Rabbit Ears and Muddy were both in clean, fast condition. Enough traffic to keep it from being an uninterrupted pace, but it never got bad. (Until we were coming back down The Poudre). A high  EEK! speed  :chili:run down CO14 back to Walden, then we continued over Cameron Pass. It was getting a touch chilly at this point, as we were in the shadow of the mntns. Larry & Mike decided to swap bikes on the east side of Joe Wright Resv, as Mike was hankering to try the S. And Larry, eager to enjoy the wind protection, heated grips and heated seat of the RT, was happy to oblige him. Mikey liked it- 125 lbs less bike and 10-15 more ponies can do that for ya.
Weather was basically perfect all day, just got a bit chilly late in the day as we lost sunshine, but once out of the elevation we were comfy again. We only hit one construction stoppage (about 15 mins on CO 125 approaching the WY border), earned no go fast awards, enjoyed a nice lunch, a coffee and some good conversation, railed on some new mntn passes (Battle is a very enjoyable chunk of real estate!), had no issues of any kind.
Totals-
Miles- 440
Mntn Passes - 6 passes (Stove/Rist, Cameron 2x, Battle, Rabbit Ears, and Muddy)
MPG - 43,
Gas - I dunno, it went ont he plactic.
Lunch- $8.00.
Chicken strips- http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q13/bikerfish1100/rearMeZ6.jpg
http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q13/bikerfish1100/IMG_0534.jpg
less than before, as the front Diablo had barely seen any curves at all.
Smiles- nearly excessive.
