Five years ago my wife bought a Yamaha Vino 50, a real cool little scooter.  She just got her restricted M license, she's allowed to ride an LSM (Limited Speed Motorcycle) but not a motorcycle.

Problem:  Her little bike's registered as a Motorcycle, not as an LSM; when it was plated there was no such thing.  There's nothing in writing to indicate that she's good to go.  According to her paperwork she's riding a motorcycle with an LSM license.

Question:  Do we need to re-register the bike to get the green LSM plate?  If so, then how?  Or is this not an issue?

Question I have is why didn't she just go for the regular M?
I checked the MOT website and the testing requirements appears to be the same.

Mostly 'cause she's a big chicken.  She even had the bike for it, an old KZ 440 LTD.  She wouldn't ride it and ended up selling it.

She can't take the M test on the Vino, it's not fast enough.

Take the course! Take the course! take the course! take the course!

They provide the bikes, they give the M2 test at the end, you get an insurance break about equal to the cost of the course Thumbsup. It WILL build her confidence...( my wife can attest to that!) The biggest thing is that they WANT you to learn, they ride the highways too...

It's worth it in every respect. It takes one weekend... Take the course

Well, just today my lovely wife got her new driver's licence in the mail.  Apparently she's got a GM endorsement, no L condition or restriction.  So no worries, I guess.

Don't tell your bike insurance company that you have another "M" endorsed rider in the house !! It can be a pain in the butt trying to convince them that the other rider will not be riding YOUR bike. They might try to make you put insurance on to cover a new rider. $$$$$ +. I  warn you because I went through this a few years ago. ( can't think of the company now ) Ins. company's are a pain in this province .

Thanks.  I'd like to get her a bike for her birthday.  I'm trying to sell her on a CB125, or a big scooter if she still won't shift gears.  She says she'd rather have a new couch.  As in chesterfield.  Better for me, I guess, and cheaper.  Oh well.
