Saturday route details for those joining from SoCal:

Meet Saturday Morning in Canyon Country @ Denny's Near Sand Cyn/14 (behind the Mobil Station)

7:30am if you plan to eat breakfast, Kickstands up at 8:30am.

Optional 7am meet at Little Tujunga 7-11

Here's the 290 mile route for Saturday: http://tinyurl.com/ytgote

Destination for this overnighter is Three Rivers off 198: http://tinyurl.com/yrjfmt

Official Hotel for Saturday night is the Comfort Inn: http://www.sequoiahotel.com/  (Book your room now for Saturday Nov. 10th).

Official Restaurant for Saturday night eats is Serrano's Mexican Restuarant. It's right across the street from the Hotel. We ate there last year, I thought it was tasty and much better than the pizza joint we ate at the year before. I don't think anybody got sick, so that's a plus Wink. If anyone has a better idea, throw it out there.
Serrano's Mexican Restaurant, 40869-C Sierra Dr., Three Rivers

The route I plan to do on Sunday is 245 all the way up to 180. 180 to Cedar Grove Kings Cyn., then reverse 180/245 back to Badger for lunch. Anyone that would prefer to do 198 up through Sequoia is of course welcome to do that and may well sync up for a lunch meet.

Here's the map of my proposed route for Sunday: http://tinyurl.com/yqat78

*If the Thursday/Friday forecast calls for rain/snow on this weekend, I will wimp out. Riding twisty routes in the wet is not my idea of fun...*

Since I've had to bail on three tours this year at the last minute, I'll just lurk on this thread and not post anything.

I just did an overnight camping excursion last month through that general area.  We didn't go to Three Rivers but we did come up Yokhol rd and hit J21 through Lemmon Cove.  It was a great ride but I had to cut it short due to my rapidly deteriorating rear tire.  Some of the roads i.e. Yokhol are really rough and they really shortend the life of my tire.

I plan on being there. ST-N had a little get together there last Oct. I think we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. Really good Mexican restaurant across the street.

Yeah, this will be the third annual b4thesnowflies ride. Both of the previous runs were the second or third week of October. This one is pushed back a bit to get closer to its namesake Wink. First year we rented a cabin shared by 5 or six rider which was kinda cool, but a bit last minute and a little sketchy because the normally require a two-night stay. I thought the Holiday Inn worked well, and I agree, the little mexican joint across the street is pretty good (first time we ate at the pizza joint up the street).
Anyways, I think it'll be Holiday Inn and Mexican again. I'm also going up there Sat.-Mon. Oct. 13th-15th and I think I can offer a free bed (I was offered a free room in exchange for shooting video, I'm assuming there will be two beds) for any fast-ish riders that are interested and don't mind a bit of snoring.

A bunch of friends and I did a ride through that area the year before last but went from North to South. (part of our annual 4 day ride)
Ended up dallying in Sequioa and rode the switchbacks out of sequioa and into 3 rivers in the dark - not a whole lot of fun.
I probably have a map somewhere of our route if anyone needs or is interested in it.

Beautiful area and nice ride.

When I was camping in Sequoia this summer, there was major road construction on the switchbacks in the park with 30 minute delays.  I'm not sure if it's still going on but i wouldn't be surprised if it is.

I went up to Three Rivers yesterday, and saw the advisory signs on the way up. Being stuck in a 30min delay flagging operation would sure put a damper on your rythym.

Then again it could be a nice opportunity to bond with some cagers. Crazy

Actually, I'm thinking a yoyo route of 245 is better than going through the park, road construction or not. For those that are of the same mind as me (it's more about the road-riding than the sight-seeing), we could run 245 up to Wilsonia and then turn around and run back, except for any NorCal participants which would obviously continue north.
Meeting in Wilsonia will leave it open for any that really wanted to go through the park to do that route, then join on the 245 return route if that's the way they're going.
My thought is to grab some initial energy via coffee and sweet-rolls/muffins @ the Holiday inn, then break for a later breakfast/brunch after putting some 60+ miles of twisties down. Anyone know of any restaurant in Wilsonia? If not, I'm pretty sure there's a place neer Badger on 245 that serves food...

If you don't want to backtrack too much try Hwy J21 out of Lemmon Cove.  It intersects 245 about 1/2 way to Wilsona.  It's an interesting road.  It starts out as a full width highway (with out center stripe) leaving Lemmon Cove and then shrinks to a goat trail about 1/2 way up before it intersects 245.
