Finally bought a bike again, after leaving the UK and selling my Trophy900. Its a beaut of a 1200. 1998 and only 9k miles, platinum in colour with all 3 bags.

So I'm going thru the book, its only got a stamp for the intial servicing so I shall "assume" that the servising was done by the previous 2 owners.  Checked all the dials n knobs, levels etc.  OIL, book says that the dipstick is on the left, cant find it but there is a sight glass, mmmmmmm.

everything else seems OK.

BUT I will probably take it to my local Trumpet dealer for the 9k/12k service.  Thoughts, is that wise and how many big $$$$.

Cheers
Mike

It doesn't exist without photographs.  Bigsmile

BTW, very nice. I've often thought a Trophy 12 would make the ideal touring bike for me.  Thumbsup

We just got our '03 1200 back from Manayunk Triumph (Philadelphia, PA) for 6K servicing.  $600 give or take, plus a head gasket issue that was under warranty.  Brake pads were upgraded from the cheap $hit Triumph put on the bike, several valves were out of spec on the tight side, carbs were re-synched.  Numerous little glitches taken care of, e.g. corroded horn contact, etc.  Can't say enough good things about Manayunk.  Cylinders were carboned up because my Beloved, whose bike this is, has been babying it waaaaaay tooooo much.  The service guy Told Her To Go Out And Spank Her Trophy........ I was across the room laughing my a$$ off, despite the killer glares from her direction...... best comedy I've had in weeks!

Money well spent IMO, given my relative lack of mechanical talent and total lack of spare time.

And you won’t. The 98 Trophy has the black engine and doesn’t have a dipstick, only the silver engines of 96-97 have the dipstick.  Wink

If you have a question on whether the maintenance was ever done I would at least get the valves checked. Though my Trophy was in the shop for the initial valve check they never stamped the owners book, didn’t think of it.  Shrug

Congrats on the new bike but where are the pictures?  Headscratch

Yep its black allright and a nice Platinum everywhere else!

Have given it quite a good allover look and theres hardly anything wrong, virtually no scratches dents or dings at all, VERY releaved.

I bought both my cars on ebay too and have been lucky......

On the servicing front, theres no stamps after the intial ones so it'll go into the shop next week or so.  The bikes only done 9k miles!
And yes I will get the pix up tomorrow
