Recently, I stepped out of line and posted twice on a topic that causes much gnashing of teeth, denial of reality and digging in of heels despite evidence to the contrary of people's preconceptions. Then followed the complaint that the topic's been posted too many times, blah, blah, blah.

So, just to keep the forum interesting, in the future, allowable posts should be on these ever-interesting topics of which we can never get enough:

1. Harleys are bad/Harleys are good/Harleys are ok, but not for me.

2. A cager cut me off on the Interstate.

3. Some dumbass did this or that and dies, thus deserving a Darwin Award, video included.

4. I got a ticket and it is so unfair, cops are assholes/ no they're not, they're just doing their jobs.

5. Which new bike should I buy?

6. I bought something new, but I'm not going to give a clue what it is until you open a dumbass post with huge pictures.

7. My spouse got a bike/ passed his or her license test.

8. I test rode a bike and have a few nonsensical observations which you will certainly want to read all about.

9. Which roads should I take on my vacation because I cannot read a map even if I did buy one.

10. Don't speed in this or that state or province because they're suddenly going to enforce the law there.

11. You really need to wear all the gear all the time or else this will certainly happen to you.

12. Someone refused to wave to me and it's all because of the brand bike they choose to ride.

13. Someone I know died in a motorcycle crash and I feel so bad.

14. The world is ending for motorcycling as we know it.

15. Drinking while riding is (fill in the blank).

16. I just returned to the forum and certainly you remember my 57 posts from two years ago. Anyway, "Hi."

17. I'm leaving the forum now and I just want to let all of you know, because I'm sure you'll wonder where I went.

18. Has anyone seen/heard from so and so?

19. I insalled one of these on my bike and I'm sure you want to see huge photos of it.

20. I'm going to camp on my bike and have no clue how, so please tell me how.

21. Which bike is most comfortable because I can't tell, so you tell me, ok?

22. Honda is coming out with a new bike that never materializes.

23. I have a flat. What should I do, plug it? No, yes, maybe.

24. I went for a ride and certainly you'll want to read all about it, beginning with what I had for breakfast.

25. A motorcylist received this sentence for the following crime. It's too much, no it's not enough, it's just right. My brother-in-law did something similar. Yeah, well top this.

26. We have an inside joke. You must laugh.

27. 1%'er tales/history/warnings/lore/wars.

28. My motorcyle dealer tried to make a profit from my doing business there.

29. This writer/politician/my mother doesn't like motorcycles. Convince them otherwise.

30. Who do you insure with and what's it cost/ my insurance company screwed me over.

31. I wrecked my bike, please feel bad. You deserved it.

32. BMW's ..... who cares? You paid too much anyway.

33. SpeedTV is bad/shows only NASCAR/ is good/shows cooking.

34. Cruiser bikes sell too well. Why?

35. It's hot here where I ride/ It's cold here where I ride/ It rains here where I rde. No shit?

36. The Dragon.

37. Which engine layout is best? No it isn't. Yes it is.

38. Which drive is best? Chain, belt, shaft or jet?

I meant to discuss the use of lighting and subtle textures in comparison with Moto Guzzi.

Moto Guzzi...art...art...Moto Guzzi....it all sorta blends together

Not sure who got their undies in a twist over this, but the original post, IMO, just made some observations.  So what if they duplicated what somebody else said.  If you like the replies you got here, you should go to the FJRForum where the dick heads rule the roost and will organize a "dog pile" in your honor.  If somebody didn't like the test parameter, then so what!!!  They are free to run their own test and post them.  Sorry there Snowbird, IMO, you didn't do enough homework prior to posting; but that's OK too.  This ain't MIT and you aren't presenting a doctoral thesis.  The real mistake is underestimating the number of fanatics that aim FJR's.

What's the point of even reading this section anymore?  Guess it's time just to stick to OT...  Lol

Snowbird I think you did an excellent job with your "list."   Thumbsup

I am however the yin to your yang (realizing and choosing to ignore your sarcasm and choosing to take your posting at face value)...these are exactly the topics on ST.N I find myself avoiding.

Especially at this time of year when my work consumes most of my waking hours and riding time is precious.  I'm afraid I don't have much time left over for my beloved ST.N. and certainly not to your listed, "done to death" topics.

Winter is another story.  Then I have oodles of time, limited riding days and am bored enough to indulge in das "list."  Smile

Shucks Orson it was a play on Robert Delaunay.  The first thing I thought of was Robert Goulet, the smooth baritone of song and stage, and especially the Will Farrell impersonation thereof.

Oh, screw the MGS and Get a minty fresh Ghezzi Brian SuperTwin.

I think someone raced an MGS-01 at Daytona this year, and perhaps there has been one/some on EBay, but I don't know where you'd buy a street legal, US spec bike.

Ghezzi-Brian would be the closest you'd get.  Nearly bought one in 03, or thereabouts.

OK, I love Guzzis and all that stuff, but...

Do you ever notice that every time someone tries to make a sexy sportbike out of a Guzzi, it ends up looking like a bikini strapped over a diesel bilge pump?  Its so...industrial sexy.  No wonder the Germans love Guzzis so much.

Of course, Germans love this guy too.

I AM sitting here eating tacos for breakfast. EEK!  I didn't even know it was a moral decision. Crazy

Awwww shit, too late, I had Taco Cabana this morning. Should have read this before having breakfast.

You're a couple of "Stout-Stommics", for sure. In appreciation, I'll share this with you'll: get some of this stuff (local Safeway for me). Arriba! Roasted Chipotle Salsa. Thumbsup

Medium will start the fire for most aficionados. And, here's a bit of peppery wisdom you may already know: Muy El Grande (sour cream/cottage cheese) will balance out the net effect for breakfast diners.

There are rules in the universe. Part of the Hell referred to, could be 500-mi of sport-touring with a bad case of Pepper-Butt!  Lol

I was imagining the amount of time, thought and effort that went into the first post.

Though it is probably quite 'correct' in a sort of cynical fashion perhaps here we might remember ole Nietzsche that life when seen from a certain distorted, or is that mad angle, seems to be a perpetual return of the same?

Honey should we have chicken, ribs, chops, or steaks tonight.  Yadda Yadda.

Yet, in each moment there are variations, unexpected and unanticipated events.

So what is meant by referring to all posters as whiners?

Surely given the cosmic annihilation that faces us all a little whining together is okay.

It seems no less disfunctional than whining about whiners.

All that crap and no mention of a Harley, WTF?

You could also add to this discussion a list of standard internet message board answers:

You want your bike/car to go faster, go to a DE or Track Days

I have no experience with what you just asked but here's my opinion

You have less than x number of posts so you obviously don't know anything

How dare you ask a question that was asked once before, search the archives

No matter what you posted, I will post that you are wrong or that I think differently, just becasue I can

Or this unwritten one - You are intruding on our thread so we won't talk to you, evident by no one acknowledging your post.

...and I'm sure there are tons more...

I used to have a very amusing bit titled, How many internet posts does it take change the plugs on an FZR1000.  The answer was in the hundreds and showed each of the types of answers that type of post would get.  I wish I still had it, it was great.

Yup. Around here… the left side of the continent.  Smile   I do so love SoCal. ‘pesially in Jan and Feb, when the stupid sign outside of town that says “The Palm Springs Of Washington” is covered in snow an ice cycles, har har. Fiesta Park in Indio is a favorite hole-up in the Coachella Valley.

One time, we were duel-sporting from Yucca Valley up to 38 and my front went flat out on Burns Canyon Rd (I think). Rode it flat back to the Harley shop, Hutchins IIRC, in YV. They did an all out to get us back on the road (nice folks), but let the shop monkey practice fixing flats. He put the new tube in, but didn’t bother to check for the cause, a pin sized nail as it turned out. An hour after we rode out of there, I was riding back on another flat. Funny now… not then!

Anyway, on the bright side, things grow back pretty fast there, especially if you were to have a couple wet seasons.

Cheers
