I've looked around in the forum and I can't find a thread addressing the following situation.  Of course, maybe I'm just doing a lousy job looking.   Rolleyes

My GF and I have Chatterbox units we use when we ride our bikes together.  Basic functioning is OK: We use PTT since the VOX was iffy when we tried, the range is good (I can ride ahead then tell her where I am waiting).  The wiring to the PTT button is a PITA and the unit hanging on the helmet is klunky.

Some company must be making a Bluetooth setup by now:  Small headset to transmit to box in tankbag so the PTT wire stays on the bike.  Or maybe a VOX which works cleanly.  Anyone found something that works well?

Scala rider. But frankly I'm cool with just one wire going from the helmet(s) to my tank bag that I used to centralize everything, and added PTT to the bikes.

That is a clean arrangement.  I might tinker about with that as the basic plan.  Thanks!

Chatterbox has also recently released the GMRS X1 Bluetooth.  It won't solve the PTT wiring, but will help with cell phones and other Bluetooth enabled devices.  I use VOX, and it's worked pretty well for me so far.  I also have my Chatterbox mounted (via RAM mounts) in the center of the handlebars.  I'm sure you could find such a mount for your bike as well.

I have the Scala Rider Teamset - wireless and works well for the money.  Paid $175 delivered from E-bay.

Buy or make a mount so your Chatterbox sits on your bike.  16 gauge steel, cut to the width of the helmet mount tab, works great.  I made one mount that fits between my GPS mount and cradle, and another that fits between a mirror and a mirror post.  Ugly, but easy and effective.

With it mounted on the bike, it's easy to hardwire for power.  It's also easy to trim and re-solder the wire for the PTT switch so you don't have all the extra cable hanging around the bike.  I cut mine down to about 5" long.

Chornbe's PTT setup looks sweet.
