Nope its a slip on. Some would call it loud I guess but I think its just right. Its not bad at all until you crack it open and she has a nice deep roar to her. It makes following my wife around even more fun. Now if I could just get her to crack it open more often.  Lol

Not sure how much wind protection they provide since I have been wear full leathers (cant feel the wind) once the temps dove below 50.
