With state inspections out the window for bikes I thought every HD guy would go out and start slapping on straight pipes on their bikes. You know.....for safety.
But last week at the local bike night. I didn't see any of that.
I wonder how long before things start getting nutty here with respect to safety and sound.

Shouldn't be any different than in NY where they never even look at your exhaust, let alone start the bike for an inspection.  In NY it is lights, tires and horn that is about it.

Yeah, I don't think it would matter that much.  Even with a D&D exhaust on the Buell, the "techs" at inspection didn't have any problems passing the bike.

I was half expecting every HD guy to go out and pick up a hack saw and buy some chrome pipe and call that a proper exhaust system.
But like I said it has been quiet thus far.
But you are right they really don't check for such things at the inspection station.
I wonder how things will change?

I figured that most cruiser guys were inspecting their bikes with stock exhaust and then throwing on the aftermarket once they got back home.  

I'm sure we will see more beaters on the road, both bikes and cars.  Thus, more roadside breakdowns and repairs which maybe hazardous for the rest of the public. Some members here thought NJSP would have more roadside inspections. Dunno, we'll see!

Maybe - that's what worries me - violaters already know how to go around the rules, & responsible folks will still want to keep their vehicles safe.  Remains to be seen how this works out.  There's money in it for the state somewhere in the future.  Why else would the change the rules?

I continue to think it's completely asinine to not have some sort of scheduled safety inspection. I was in the business for a long time. I saw way too much serious shit that was so easily prevented.

Even without inspection, there are still dB level standards in most cities and counties that the police can enforce with a meter. Doubt you'll see a huge increase in that though.
