My vote for a new domicile : Mount Weather
I hear there is a pretty good zombie proof bunker nearby.

The search for a dew domicile might take a long time - I'm pretty far under water on the current house.
We were thinking about mt airy or middletown md, but that would require a social lobotomy, so I doubt it will happen any time soon.

Concerning a ride, sis is getting back around 10 and I don't know if she'd want to come along or not. I may or may not show up, but don't wait up for me.

Mac -- outstanding post on the sinkholes. Great info, however, you will most assuredly not be on Leesburg's Chamber of Commerce XMAS list. . ..
DNA -- hope the ride went well. I just returned to town, so no bikes for me. . ..
I think I may have to link up with Dot and Peter over coffee to hear them discuss great thoughts in Russian with Joey while Twist, over in a corner, chuckles inwardly.

Met up with Locomatt an ADV guy and we cruised the back roads from Middleburg down to 211 - crossed the gap and had a snack at BK in Louray, then back via 675 up to 55.
Basically the Joe loop with special DNA additions and U-turns.
A favorite ride - 185 ish mile 4 hour tour and loads of fun.
Going up 211 heading west - the road was fine, going down there was a lot of sand in the apexes.
675 was sandy as usual this time of year, and I think we both enjoyed the river section at the top.
The small roads in LoCo were in bad shape. Potholes galore, sand and bikes.
Lots of spandex - and this early in the season, not the good kind.

Excellent vid - but not me - I'd have crashed for sure.
HOV - Are you going to ride ever again?
Unless you srart putting miles on the VFR none of your other children have a chance at becoming nationally ranked at a potentially profitable sport.

BTW - I have the first service for the GS scheduled for Saturday. 6K and 2 year - plus a few odds and ends.
Should last 4-5 hours.
Want to start taking bets on how much?

Hey kids!
Just got back from skiing in Alta (managed to keep up with a couple of 22-year-old local employees as they shredded up the tree runs and only mildly tweaked my knee), so wasn't able to join in on the fun yesterday. Think I'm going to hook up the battery tender today, however, and see if I might be able to get the bike running sometime soon....
DNA, feel free to come by and get a tour of Reston if you would like. But remember -- being a planned community and all, there are significant restrictions on what you are allowed to do to your home. Also, it votes 70 percent Democratic so that social lobotomy may still be required.
Found this lovely place for you:
Five bedrooms, 1.8 acres, and just $10 shy of $1 million! I'll gladly kick in the $10 if you get it, just so you can say you bought a million-dollar house!
(Heck, who knows, maybe that
is
in your budget -- if so, it looks really nice.... But I thought it was pretty funny that it's listed at $999,990)

Blue,
Thanks for thinking of me, I know reston quite wel as I spent every Sunday AM there for a few years. Despide the voting record, there are some good people there.
I lived in Columbia, MD once upon a time ago- don't think I will voluntarily opt for controlled housing again, and that house is a bit out of my reality today. Besides, they proabably owe $1.5M anyway.
Get the bike charged - let me know if you bneed anything - I will be at Mortions before 9:00 Saturday. Better yet, if you want to buzz downt here, I can stop by as I blast down the toll rd. and you can get .... that thing ... you must have yourself.

Forget about that one -- it has an electric range. Dot only cooks with gas.
You went skiing? Heck, don't you know that is dangerous?

Just returned from our monthly night out. This month we tried "The View" based on DrD an another recommendation just this week.
Good sized portion and great service in an empty dining room, so no need to hit up McD's on the way home.
Even with my poor hearing it was easy to talk and the decor was very nice. We could have passed on the salads, as the apps were sufficient and tasty, 1/2 an avacado filled with minced shrimp shrooms and other tasty bits was great, while the 2 ravoili in 2 sauces was good.
T got a huge well cooked Rib Eye with an odd red sauce - great steak, but not so great a sauce. We had a Rib Eye in Jan at the Capital grill, and it had vastly better seasoning and sides.
Upon recommendation of the manager, I had the mixed seafood linguini. Mehh - not bad - but not something I'd call the signature dish. I wish I'd had something else.
So far the T liked the Eifel Tower Cafe in Leeburg as her #1 restaurant of the last 6 months, while 2941 holds my top spot. Tuskies was very good as well - but that was way back in Nov.
Stay tuned - next month we might venture inside the beltway for an even more expensive experiment and parking calamity.
Not bad, but compared to the other places we have been lately, I expect it will be a $150 dinner that I probably will not recall in 6 months.
Overall 3/5 stars.
BTW - we are still looking for a family style Italian restaurant in the area with red table cloths and a white aproned fat man who will laugh as our kids grow up eating his mamas lasagna.

Prime Rib in DC was good food but, and I know this will come as a surprise, we're not exceedingly comfortable in a joint where the waitstaff wears tux and tails. That meal was 175 for two of us 10 years ago but I was on the company dime *trying* to spend money.
We ate that prime rib for 3 days and it was among the best I've ever had.
This coming from a guy who really likes the food out of the blue box truck beside the yamaha/triumph place.

A few years back my self and 4 other guys went on a mission to try every good steak joint in the DC area.
Each of us would make the reservation and the bill would rotate, so we each had a $400-$500 bill every 4-5 months.
We went to most of them over a few years, then we all got married had kids and learned the fine details of chicken nuggets and mac n cheese.

Got out on the Dancing Hippo for a short bit today. Damn, I love to ride.
Looked closely at that ridiculously big house that Twist posted. House sucks -- property is great. A bit overpriced.

$618
But I had them install an accessory fuse block under the seat - so $35 + 1/2 hour labor was for that add on.
Overall it was a good experience, but I left home at 7:30 and got home at 5:14.
RNA was not amused.
