Anybody getting out to ride this holiday weekend?  Dot and I will likely be out buzzing around this PM:  She may buy a FZ6R!!  In white with graphics, of course.

I went on a small excursion. Dumped the DR-Z hard on a mountain pass (goat path) taking the LONG way to work today. I may have managed to tweak the forks this time. Won't know for sure till I get a chance to loosen the triples and see if it straightens out.

Providing I get the forks straightened out ok I'm going get me some of the hair of the dog and take the same route to work tomorrow.  Lol

Since DNA tried to jinx me I'm sticking to gravel roads (or worse) for my travels this weekend.  Twofinger

Headscratch  When did I throw throw whammy at you?  At least you are getting out.

I am mostly parting out.

Anyone need an aluminum single sided swing arm?

Joey?

Anyone?

New FZ6R sounds nice.  Thumbsup

New anything sounds nice.  And what is to be the fate of Sadie?

When ya said you'd give me till this weekend to get a performance award on the FZ1.  Lol

Good luck on the continued parting-out of the donor bike, but arey ou sure you shouldn't be keeping all those spare parts?  Bigsmile (j/k)

Ya'll have a wonderful 4th!

I assumed that had already happened.   Lol Lol

Good on you for making it so long.  Thumbsup

We should have a DS/Tard ride - could be dangerous fun under 80 mph.  EEK!

You are quite correct - every part that goes out is an increased risk of breaking what I got left.  If I keep 'em all, nothing will every break again?

Dot and I went for a ride -- two up on #4 (my bike).   Headscratch

When we got ready to ride together to Loudoun Motorsports, Sadie wouldn't start.  All the signs of a dead battery; not unexpected in '05 bike with the original battery.  So we two up there.  Loudoun Motorsports is a good place.  Heck, they let her test ride a FZ6R!  We went a little over 11 miles, mostly on the highway so Dot could check the airflow with a full fairing.

Airflow good -- check.  Ergos good -- check.  Knees baking from the heat off the bike -- nuts.   Sad  So all she bought was a new battery, which I installed in Sadie when we got home.  Dot then hopped on Sadie for a 'test' ride.  Airflow acceptable -- check.  Ergos good -- check.  No engine heat -- we have a winner!   Bigok   I guess I have to look somewhere else for a track bike.

Loudoun Motorsports has a good deal on most of their bikes:  $900 off MSRP, or free maintenance for 'life of the bike.'  Well, actually, the first six scheduled services are free, which means out to 18,000 miles.  That about had Dot ready to sign, until her legs began to bake.

Agree with all Peter wrote. Nice bike, FZ6R but too damn hot. Greg, the shop owner at Loudon, was very nice and it was great that I could ride the bike out on the street. (The shop in Manassas, Colgans, said all I could do was take it around the parking lot, which certainly would not have revealed the heat issue.) Well, I guess I've gotten very used to Sadie's torque, twichiness and coolness. So Peter is disappointed in not having a track bike (yet). Maybe I should have a summer bike and a winter bike. If only I rode enough to warrant that! Hope all is well with everyone! Would love to see some pics of the kids out there especially!

I thought your bike worked now?

I've threatened the RT-P that I will part her out if she doesn't cooperate. The threats haven't sunk in yet.

No late time on the computer last night -- as part of our 4th celebration we watched 'Independence Day'.  This morning we are being lazy.  Maybe yet we can meet today?   Shrug

I'm out.   EEK!  We finally got our plans for the rest of the weekend arranged and no riding today.  Tomorrow morning I will ready for a long ride.   Thumbsup

BTW, Dot won't be doing much of anything through August.  Her company is  putting together a massive proposal (large IDIQ for some nearly 1,000 LOE).  She has work to do this weekend, then Monday through Friday in Huntsville.  More travel, long hours, and weekends dedicated to work until it is done.

So she and I were thinking.  Early September we are taking a long weekend to visit family in Portand, OR.  How about the weekend after that, or one more later, we have a local STN Fall picnic?  Ride or drive, with kids, mid day somewhere we can open?  Thoughts?

Good lord, y'all actually start to try to ride together again and I'm out of town.

But I'm in Vermont, with my bike!

And it won't stop raining.

My only MC related event today was taking Sadie's dead battery to the dump.  It was an enjoyable, quiet day; just no riding.

I just tore the parts bike down to the frame.  Removed everything connected by bolts.  Not that much there for your $10,000+ once you pile it all up.  It fits in 1 big box + 1 shelf, and a pile of motor.  Sad
