Hitch hikers suck
«
on:

Apparently I've had this little fellow tagging along with me in the depths of my fairing, down next to my headers for about a month now.
Out on the road I remember almost nailing a bird. I guess I did.
I thought I smelled something on occasion.

I was riding the 675 last week and when I would stop for traffic, I would smell something that was nearly vomit producing. When I got home, I discovered a dead robbin was resting between my fairing and exhaust headers. What a mess. It took me 40 minutes to get it cleaned. I had to rub Vicks vapor rub on my nose so I couldn't smell it while cleaning.

I hit a squirrel once but there wasn't much of it left to stick on the bike, no mess either which I was pleased about! Stupid critter ran out in front of the big blue bike going 90mph. Darwin at his finest

Not bike related but gross none the less. Someone nailed a huge deer on the highway ahead of me and the majority of the carcass was dead center in my lane. It was late, dark, I was tired, and ran straight over it. I was in a Mazda protege (read: no ground clearance) and raked the deers body down the entire bottom of my car. When I got off the highway and stopped it smelled like I was BBQing meat that had been marinated in motor oil. The next morning I was taking the car to get tires (read: up in the air on a rack). I got up early, looked under the car and there was meat hanging from every exposed bold head. I was at a car wash at 8AM power washing the underside so the guys at Big O Tires didn't raise their eyebrows at me.

They'd be callin' the local constabulary to report a possible hit and runner trying to throw off the scent by changing tires...

It's a bird, or what's left of it. What I'm trying to figure out is where exactly is it located inside the bike?
It's just forward of the headers, where the side fairings and a small fairing under the radiator meet. There's not a whole lot of free space to get back there, so he must have had a thrilling ride to get down in there. I was poking around with a flashlight last night in the garage and noticed him.
I look foward to cleaning it out.
After a month I'm hoping he's more petrified and dried out than squishy.

Ugh.
Only thing i've ever killed with the bike was a 'possum (stupid-ass things), but i've killed at least four birds with cars... i once found a perfectly-intact, tiny yellow bird stuck in the grille of my '63 New Yorker- it was just too pathetic for words.
